You will lead the development of scalable, reliable, and high-performance systems that support our scientific applications and business operations
Your expertise will help drive the strategic direction of our infrastructure, ensuring that it meets the evolving needs of our organization.Who will love this job:A confident leader with team-building capabilitiesAn excellent problem-solver and analytical thinker who enjoys troubleshooting complex issuesAn exceptional communicator who can collaborate effectively with global, cross-functional teamsWhat you’ll do and learn:Lead the design and implementation of scalable, high-availability infrastructure solutions, including data centers, cloud environments, and hybrid systemsDevelop and execute infrastructure strategies that align with Schrödinger’s business goals and scientific objectivesEvaluate emerging technologies and tools to recommend improvements and innovationsArchitect and optimize complex IT systems to ensure performance, reliability, and securityCollaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate infrastructure solutions with applications and workflowsImplement and manage automation tools and processes to enhance system efficiency and reduce manual overheadProvide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers and IT staffLead infrastructure projects in a technical role, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to best practicesFoster a collaborative environment and drive continuous improvement within the infrastructure teamOversee the monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of infrastructure systemsDevelop and enforce policies and procedures for infrastructure management, including backup, disaster recovery, and security protocolsManage vendor relationships and service contracts to ensure optimal performance and cost-effectivenessWork closely with research scientists, software developers, and other stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide infrastructure solutions that support their workCommunicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise mannerWhat you’ll need:Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience in a professional setting)At least seven years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering, with a minimum of three years in a lead roleProven experience with cloud and on-prem network architecture, virtualization platforms (GCP, AWS, VMware, Azure), data center management, and WAN technologiesDeep background in virtualization, containerization, and automation tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform)Expertise in designing and managing large-scale, high-performance infrastructure systemsIn-depth knowledge of IT security principles, practices, and technologiesPay and perks:Schrödinger understands it’s people that make a company great
