One of Vaco’s highly-acquisitive, PE-backed clients in the distribution space is looking to onboard a Senior Lease Accountant to oversee all US (all 50 states) leases. Day-to-day involves managing and overseeing all aspects of lease accounting in accordance with ASC 842. This role involves maintaining accurate records, ensuring compliance, and providing financial analysis related to lease agreements.

Previous experience in lease accounting and knowledge of ASC 842 is a MUST HAVE.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain lease accounting records, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
- Review and analyze lease contracts to determine accounting implications and maintain an up-to-date lease database.
- Calculate and record lease liabilities and right-of-use assets in the general ledger.
- Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes, including reconciliations related to lease accounts.
- Provide reports and insights on lease obligations and financial impacts for management and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., legal, procurement) to ensure accurate documentation and reporting of lease agreements.
- Stay current on changes in lease accounting standards and implement necessary updates in practices and policies.
- Assist in audits related to lease accounting and respond to auditor inquiries.
- Support financial modeling and analysis related to new leases or lease modifications.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or relevant certification is preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in lease accounting or financial reporting.
- Strong knowledge of lease accounting standards (ASC 842, IFRS 16).
