Job Description:

The Engineering, Construction & Capital Equipment Category Lead is an individual contributor, procurement role with responsibilities to facilitate all necessary sourcing activities to support the BMS Capital plan for projects working in close collaboration with the Engineering Team.  

The Category Lead is also responsible for developing strategies and conducting the sourcing, negotiating and contracting as well as recommending appropriate scope awards that maximize value for BMS. A strong relationship with Business Partners is required to ensure flawless project execution. The Category Lead will be responsible for advancing the existing supplier relationship management (SRM) model as it relates to all key suppliers within their respective subcategories (Project Controls, CQV, MRO).   

The position requires strong operational alignment with all stakeholders involved in multiple projects including Global Engineering Services (GES), Site Engineering & Technical Services, Quality as well as alignment with other SS&P (Procurement) category leads and site procurement teams.  The Category Lead must display excellent communication skills in dealing with internal stakeholders, senior leadership, and suppliers.

Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Procurement:
  • Active Business Partner engagement

• Develop sourcing strategies necessary to procure the various aspects of capital projects
• Facilitate the Project Team decision making of the contract award recommendations
• Develop and review statements of work, performance terms, Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for projects
• Prepare and solicit competitive bids, quotations and proposals with relevant specifications, terms and conditions.
• Evaluate competitive bids to determine the best overall value
  • Negotiate and/or issue contracts and service orders, obtaining legal and finance approvals when required.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering and Construction procurement team to establish Master Services Agreements with key suppliers
  • Facilitate procurement best practices to ensure policy compliance

• Supplier Relationship Management:
  • Develop, and manage internal and external relationships with suppliers, cross- functional and/or multi-functional teams with regard to the following:
    • Manage all preferred suppliers using the Supplier Relationship Management methodology for the various categories
    • Coordinate evaluations to determine supplier performance using rating systems and/or predetermined standards.
    • Schedule and drivemeetingswithsupplier(s) selected for the SRMprogram
    • Prepare for anddevelopnegotiationsstrategies
    • Conductnegotiationswithincumbentand newpotential suppliers to obtainmaximum value.
    • Coordinate, reviewandrespond to supplierinquiries

• Sourcing & Technology:

• Utilize the AribaProcure to Pay platform
• Implement andmaintain requiredsystems,files/archives and databasesofprojectexecution
• Collaboratewith finance to capture andreportsavings

• Management & Organization:

• Developstrategicplansandobjectives.
• DevelopgoalsandobjectivesinalignmentwithBusinessPartners.
• Develop a plan to staff a siteprocurement teamwhen the timing is right to alignwith the project

Qualifications:

• B.S.inEngineering or other technical
• EngineeringandConstructionexperience
• Minimumof10yearsofrelevant workexperience,
• Minimumof4-7yearsprocurementorrelevantexperience

• Possessexceptional communicationskillsandbeable to communicatetomultiplelevelswithincompany.

PreferredQualifications:

• Master’sDegree
• Managerial and/or team leadership experience
• PriorcGMPexperience in biopharmaceuticals, pharmaceuticals, and/or medical deviceindustryishighlypreferred.
• Relevantindustrycertifications are preferred.
