Senior Manager, Specialized Tax Services Partnerships - BDO International

Job Summary:As a Tax Senior Manager, Partnerships, you will be responsible for advising clients on the tax implications of their business objectives and various partnership specific items including but not limited to section 704(b) and taxable income allocations, capital account maintenance, liability analysis and allocations, section 734(b) and 743(b) adjustment calculations and Tax Receivable Agreement (TRA) calculations
In this role, the Tax Senior Manager, Partnerships will apply their knowledge and experience to understand potential partnership taxation issues and assist in the preparation of partnership specific computations
The Tax Senior Manager, Partnerships is a critical member of the STS Partnerships leadership team and actively participates in the marketing and business development of the group
In addition, the Tax Senior Manager, Partnerships develops and drives process improvement and team-building initiatives, maintains client relationships, and acts as a source of guidance to other team members.Job Duties:Tax SpecializationMaintains and develops an in-depth understanding of the technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding partnership taxationDevelops an in-depth understanding of the technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding partnership taxation May be required to organize and conduct, or participate in conducting, effective external CPE training sessions in area of specialization, involving Firm specialists, at a minimum of once per yearTrains and mentors associates, senior associates, and managers ResearchIdentifies when research is needed; clearly and concisely frames issues to be researched; and clearly and concisely reports the analysisIdentifies complex issues to be researched by engagement team and provides research methodology for efficient research processTrains associates, senior associates, and managers on research skills and helps to appropriately frame tax issues for analysisInvolves firm specialists, as appropriateTax ConsultingAssists with developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing clients’ current and future taxesApplies the combination of tax knowledge and knowledge of business/industry to recommend solutionsMaximizes client benefits, especially by decreasing client taxes, while managing riskImplements applicable Firm strategiesManages client expectationsStrategy DevelopmentIntroduces and develops new or improved ideas to improve the position of clients, the Firm, or Firm personnel, e.g., by reducing taxes or expenses or providing non-tax benefitsResearches and implements tax strategies, including experimentation with promising new strategies and ideasConsistently makes suggestions as to how previous work products or approaches can be improvedMay lead marketing campaigns, if applicable to rolePresents complex strategies to clients and prospective clientsOther duties as requiredSupervisory Responsibilities:Supervises associates, senior associates, and managers on all projectsReviews work prepared by associates, senior associates, and managers and provides review commentsTrains associates, senior associate, and managers how to use all current software toolsActs as a career advisor to associates, senior associates, and managersSchedules and manages workload of associates, senior associates, and managersProvides verbal and written performance feedback to associates, senior associates, and managersQualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Education:Bachelor’s degree, required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics, preferredMaster’s in Accountancy or Taxation, preferredExperience:Eight (8) or more years of prior relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting or consulting/professional services experience, requiredSpecialized partnership experience, requiredPrior supervisory experience, required Private equity experience, both fund and portfolio company levels, preferredLicense/Certifications:CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S
