Position Summary
MEPPI's Electrical Distribution Division (EDD) is looking for a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer to lead engineering activities in support of process improvement and optimization of facilities, equipment, materials and personnel to maximize the capacity, productivity and efficiency of the division operations. In addition, the successful candidate will develop, implement, and document efficient manufacturing and material handling techniques for new and existing products while implementing methods to reduce material waste.
Essential Functions
- Optimize workflows and create standardizations for all shop related tasks and activities.
- Lead analysis and technical resolution of manufacturing problems to meet EDD objectives.
- Lead, develop and implement Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives.
- Source, evaluate, specify, and acquire assembly, material handling and safety equipment based on quality, price, effectiveness, efficiency and ergonomic design
- Collaborate with supervisors, Quality, Engineering and management to meet division production and safety objectives.
- Manage and maintain factory fixtures, tools, cranes and other shop equipment essential to the production needs of manufacturing, including maintenance intervals and the coordination of outside services.
- Lead the EDD factory safety program and provide support to the activities of the EDD Safety Committee. Establish measurement programs to develop standards for safety performance. Manage and maintain PPE and other shop equipment essential to the safety needs of manufacturing.
- Direct Environmental and Safety measurement programs and support training efforts applicable to these programs. Publish Environmental and safety data as needed.
- Provide technical expertise and leadership for the planning and implementation of office layout alterations, new facility construction and other capital projects
- Assist the Manufacturing Manager with the development and implementation of capital budgets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor�s degree in Industrial Engineering or other related engineering/technical field with a minimum of 7 years� experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent education and experience.
- Advanced knowledge of industrial engineering methods and practices Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies and TPS techniques.
- Advanced interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required to communicate with employees and vendors.
- Advanced analytical and problem solving skills.
- Advanced computer skills with emphasis on MS Office products and CAD.
