Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Network Engineer for a job opportunity supporting a Defense Program. This position is fully onsite in Hampton, VA. The Network Engineer will be a part on a leadership team that is responsible for a legacy program that supports major Operations Centers in CONUS, Alaska and Hawaii, and over 200 remote radar and radio sites. Operations and Maintenance services are provided 7/24/365 to ensure uninterrupted mission availability. System engineering changes are implemented to modernize the communications system as-needed for technical refresh and to meet new mission requirements. Lifecycle Management and Planning services are provided for the communications system to ensure system sustainability.
Candidate must have an active secret clearance.
Responsibilities for the Senior Network Engineer:
- Act as a key member of the project delivery team along with project managers, project analysts, and other senior engineers
- Analyzes customer requirements and solves unusually complex problems with highly innovative solutions
- Provides expert knowledge for maintenance and upgrade of networks including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and telecom equipment
- Provides expert knowledge for maintaining network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintains system backup and recovery capability
- Analyzes, evaluates and plans method of approach and organizes means to achieve solution of complex technical problems
- Develops advanced engineering ideas and guides their development into a final product
- Develops advanced solutions to a variety of highly complex engineering problems
- Perform highly advanced network/systems design, development, and integration from the start of a project life cycle to the end
- Provides and applies advanced engineering to highly complex infrastructures including installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining network devices, telecom equipment, radio equipment, operating systems, application software, and system management tools
- Provides and applies advanced engineering skills to highly complex systems modeling, simulation, and analysis
- Performs continual maintenance and provides advanced solutions for security, backup, and redundancy problems
- Prepares and maintains documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects
- Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology, always on the lookout for new technologies, and works with management to evolve current processes
- Invents innovative ways to drive production operational efficiency
- Coordinates the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed
- Creates plans and configures systems for data communication networks
- Designs and builds hardware and software components for computer or telecommunications networks
- Evaluates new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience leading and managing task order type engineering project work.
- Experience working on project teams and overseeing and mentoring junior engineers.
- Active Secret clearance
- History of working in a Cisco environment
- Master's Degree and 10+ years of experience OR 16 years in lieu of degree
- Must meet the cert. requirement of DoD Directive 8140.01 and 8570.01-M
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or higher
Compensation for the Network Engineer Expert:
• Salary Range: $130,000 to $135,000
