Insero Talent Solutions has partnered with an industry leading commercial contractor in Rochester to recruit a Payroll Accountant.
Position Summary:
The Payroll Accountant reports directly to the Controller and is responsible for payroll related responsibilities, including in-house processing both unionized and nonunionized employees, maintaining payroll records, reporting, filing tax, and preparing accounting transactions and documents.
Responsibilities:
- Processing weekly payrolls.
- Processing lay-off, termination and correction check as required.
- Maintaining related payroll records, uploads documents to internal SharePoint site.
- Balancing union fringes monthly to ensure accuracy with GL reconciliation and make payment to appropriate unions.
- Recording and update timely any union fringe changes to required template for upload to ERP system.
- Auditing payroll entries for compliance with the Federal and State laws.
- Processing involuntary deductions such as levies, garnishments, and child support.
- Responding to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues or concerns.
- Processing new hire employees into ERP system.
- Documenting and updates procedures.
- Focusing on Year-End balancing and reporting in accordance to Corporate standards.
- Assisting in the HR or Accounting functions as needed, such as analyzation of accounting reports, GL reconciliation of payroll accounts, entering of direct deposits.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- An Associate’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of payroll experience, Bachelor’s degree and a CPP are preferred.
- Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals in person, via telephone, and in writing.
- Requires effective oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational and time management skills with the ability to work well under stress, despite numerous interruptions. Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Computer skills include Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and Microsoft Dynamics AX.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills and ability to efficiently communicate with all levels of employees.
- Ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential information.
- Requires effective interpersonal skills, organizational and time management skills with the ability to work well under stress, despite numerous interruptions with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and plan work activities to use time efficiently.
