We are seeking a Senior Personnel Security Assistant to support a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) contract located in Washington, DC.
Work arrangement: Hybrid - This position has weekly in-office requirements
Clearance: Active Top Secret or ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Serves as a liaison between ATF and a multitude of federal and state agencies
* Initiates, reviews, and audits electronic questionnaires for investigations processing (e-QIP) applications
* Troubleshoots any issues Subject encounters with the e-QIP system
* Conducts open-source research when reviewing e-QIPs
* Conducts investigative checks:
* Obtains credit reports
* Conducts Selective Service checks
* Conducts Federal Licensing System checks
* Conducts state police checks
* Conducts Personal Identity Verification (PIV) checks
* Reviews request packages, security packages, and waiver packages
* Reviews Personnel Security Requests (PSRs) for BIs and security clearances
* Queries the Personnel Investigations Processing System (PIPS) for previous investigations and requests files from other agencies
* Completes initial risk assessments for subjects that violate ATF agency-specific qualifications
* Prepares polygraph packages
* Accommodates and takes fingerprints for Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) fingerprint checks as part of the preemployment BI process
* Requests other investigative service provider files
* Requests Internal Affairs (IA) checks
* Conducts the TheWorkNumber.com checks
* Provides administrative case support for several Special Investigators
* Answers phones; files paperwork; conducts file audits
* Prepares and reviews correspondence
* Sends reminder emails to Subjects and their Sponsors
* Conducts weekly and bi-weekly counts
* Prepares files for the Federal Records Center (FRC) shipment
* Reviews Position Designation Tools and the type of investigation to be conducted
* Requests FBI Name Checks and distributes results
* Processes Detailee personnel security requests
* Review, develops and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
* Serves as case initiation subject matter expert (SME)
* Conducts on-the-job training for new employees and other contractors
* Provides Life of a File Training for new employees and contractors
* Assigns cases to colleagues when needed
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
* Excellent customer/client handling skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality
* Working knowledge of MS Office -- Word, Excel and PPT; database experience
* Strong interpersonal skills; written and oral communications skills
* Excellent time management -- ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines
* US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance
Education/Experience:
* High School Diploma or GED, Bachelor’s degree preferred
* Minimum of 2+ years' experience in a general office setting
* Experience working with e-Qip and JPAS preferred
