The Opportunity
Our busy Bay Area teams are eager to hire a talented SeniorPlumbing Design Engineer to the team. This position could be based in Oakland, Encino or San Diego.
The plumbing design team are a close-knit group of collaborators. They are experts in the design of plumbing & hydronic systems for diverse types of building. Their work is an essential component of the overall design of high-performance buildings. We are eagerly searching for dedicated designers who have meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities:A typical day in the life in this role, will include but not be limited to the following:
- Lead the design process and approach for medium-large sized projects
- Manage client relationships
- Responsible for QA/QC of plumbing staff work
- Responsible for review of project cost estimates and project budgets
- Manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours
- Evaluate value engineering items with respect to Introba's level of risk
- Provide training and review the work of junior and intermediate staff
- Delegate design and production tasks to junior and intermediate staff, as required
- Identify critical areas of coordination for MEP systems and other trades. Work with junior staff to coordinate plumbing systems.
- Develop system decision matrices for review by owner, architect, and design team
- Assist with fee proposal preparation
- Oversee the execution of and/or perform the following with technical proficiency:
- Plumbing and/or Fire Protection system design and layout
- Prepare engineering calculations, equipment sizing and equipment selection
- Develop performance specifications for fire suppression systems (preliminary selection of fire pumps, determine hazard classification of various spaces using NFPA, etc.)
- Develop and edit specifications
- Create narratives (basis of design) for the SD, DD and CD work
- Coordinate service requirements/connections with the respective utility and/or municipal agencies
- Write various reports
- Ensure successful completion of Construction Administration tasks
- Review and interpret code related items with engineers to ensure compliance
- Attend project progress meetings, provide updates for Team Leader, Project Manager and/or Principal-in-Charge
- Attend field reviews/meetings with clients
- Perform site visits with junior and intermediate staff for documentation of existing systems and conditions
- Perform site visits with junior land intermediate staff for review of system installation compliance with construction documents
- Manage BIM/Revit drafting and design operations:
- Ensure maintenance of BIM/Revit and design files
- Ensure Introba design checklist is being followed
- Ensure Introba BIM/Revit Standards are being followed
- Understand and apply engineering principles and fundamentals
- Develop alternative 'Engineered' plumbing systems that meet code
We would love to hear from you, if you bring all or a combination of the skills & experience outlined below:
- 10+ years design experience in Plumbing Engineering and preparing Fire Protection performance specification
documentation - BS Architectural Engineering, BS Mechanical Engineering, BS Plumbing Engineering or equivalent degree required; or equivalent combination of relevant coursework and minimum 15+ years’ work experience required
- Able to read Architectural, Structural, Electrical drawings
- Able to apply prescriptive requirements of plumbing, building and sprinkler codes (i.e. NFPA, CPC, CBC, etc.)
- Able to perform accurate detailed site surveys
- Knowledge of water efficiency strategies and systems (rainwater catchment, greywater systems, etc.)
- Proficiency in coaching/teaching
- Able to “sketch” ideas
- Management of projects and staff
- Able to communicate ideas effectively in meetings with architects and consultants
- Professional Engineer (PE), EIT and/or CPD designations are highly preferred
- LEED Accredited Professional designation is preferred 7+ years of design experience in Plumbing systems

Introba is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $74,500 - $145,600 annually for this position and local market.
