Georgia-Pacific is seeking qualified professionals to consider for a Process Control Engineer opportunity at our Monticello, MS mill. The desired candidate must demonstrate strategic & economic thinking, possess good problem-solving skills, and enjoy collaborating across the organization. This position supports the DCS systems throughout the mill and will be responsible for designing and implementing control improvements while working with others to maintain and troubleshoot the mill's control systems. Our Team
Georgia-Pacific Monticello is a fully integrated containerboard mill that employs 450 employees and continues to benefit from extensive capital investment. This position is an opportunity to be part of a rapidly expanding organization with tremendous growth potential. Monticello, Mississippi, is 25 minutes west of Brookhaven, MS, an hour South of Jackson, MS, an hour Northwest of Hattiesburg, MS.
What You Will Do
- Work closely with mill personnel to identify opportunities and solve controls-related problems
- Optimization and support of process operations through both the application of process control systems and general troubleshooting of the processes
- Support of the maintenance group in troubleshooting problems with the processes and the process control systems
- Support of the project engineering group in planning and installing new process equipment and process control systems
- Development of process control modifications that lead to improved safety, reduced costs, and improved efficiency
- Support of the mill OSI PI data historian and its users
- Assemble reports to document process status and changes.
- Track metrics to ensure control systems are delivering expected results or to discover areas for improvement
- Utilize organization skills and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Share department on-call responsibility
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering OR Bachelor's Degree in Paper Science
- 5+ years of experience of experience in Process Controls in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment
- Good working knowledge of Industrial Control Systems (DCS, PLCs, c ontrol valves, industrial instrumentation for positioning, flow, level, pressure, & temperature etc.)
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience in supporting process control systems in a Pulp and Paper mill
- Knowledge of paper machine controls and QCS systems
- Engineering and application experience with Emerson DeltaV
- Experience with APCs, VFD drives and Allen Bradley PLCs
- Experience in installing process control systems, including construction, checkout, and startup of new systems
- Experience with alarm management and rationalization
- Experience with cyber security, OT support and network architecture technology
