Summary: JH Kelly's Commercial Mechanical group is comprised of experienced project executives and next-generation project managers who partner with general contractors, developers, and facility owners to design, fabricate, install, and service HVAC and plumbing systems.
The Senior Project Manager plays a key role in leading and managing complex construction projects from inception to completion, overseeing project teams through preconstruction processes, design and virtual construction, fabrication workflows, field installation, startup, and project turnover. This role involves strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. The Senior Project Manager coordinates with engineers, subcontractors, and clients, overseeing multiple project teams while ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. The successful candidate will handle risk management, contract negotiations, and stakeholder communication, driving project success through effective leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Salary Range: $70-$77 per hour (DOE), FLSA non-exempt (OT eligible).
Key Responsibilities:
+ All responsibilities of the Project Manager with the ability to self-generate future project workflow.
+ Expertise in all aspects of project management for multiple markets and sectors, geographic regions, and client bases.
+ Lead multiple teams to successful outcomes.
+ Develop relationships and repeat business with customer's key decision-makers.
+ Develop a high level of proficiency and trust with senior management to be self-sufficient and produce consistently positive outcomes.
+ Projects are completed at or below budget.
+ Projects are completed at or ahead of schedule.
+ There are no unresolved safety or quality issues on the projects.
+ Train and develop project staff personnel.
+ Ensure customer and shareholder satisfaction.
+ Billings are prepared and collected timely.
+ Assure the accuracy and timeliness of all data associated with essential functions.
+ Follow all standard company processes and policies.
+ Ensure, follow, and promote company safety and quality protocols.
+ For a single, large project, same as a Project Manager's responsibilities:
+ Plan and manage the project schedule and account for variances to the plan.
+ Plan and manage the project estimate.
+ Manage and control project costs and account for variances to the estimate.
+ Create accurate projections of cost at completion.
+ Plan and manage the project control systems.
+ Direct activities of project staff personnel.
+ For multiple, concurrent projects:
+ Staff projects with capable resources.
+ Manage and support Project Managers in the performance of their responsibilities.
+ Assure the consistent application of project control procedures across projects.
+ Market/Sell JH Kelly services.
+ Mentor and manage Interns, Field Engineers, Project Engineers, and other project team members.
+ Maintain proactive and positive relationships within the crafts including shop and field craft personnel, and supervision coworkers.
+ Maintain proactive and positive relationships with customer representatives, vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, safety, CAD/BIM, accounting, IT, and all project teams.
+ Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Relationships:
+ Maintain proactive and positive relationships within the JH Kelly operating groups and teams, including shop and field craft personnel.
+ Foster positive relationships with customer representatives, vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, safety, CAD/BIM, accounting, IT, and all project teams.
Experience / Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Civil, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a construction industry-related field.
+ Minimum of 10-15 years of project management experience in mechanical construction, with demonstrated expertise in leading complex, large-scale projects and cross-functional teams.
+ Expertise in all responsibilities of a project, demonstrating proficiency and mastery with consistently positive results and growth:
+ Scheduling, budgeting, planning, and managing projects.
+ Establishing scheduling baselines, assessing impact claims, and negotiating soft subjects.
+ Conducting risk assessment and communication (both internal and external).
+ Managing billings, forecasting, and resource management.
+ Consistently producing profits greater than the bid margin.
+ Developing repeat business with customers and clients.
+ Fully proficient in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam, with intermediate skills in Excel
+ Expert in Critical Path Method (CPM) Scheduling, using MS Project or comparable applications preferred.
+ Expert knowledge in project management, construction management, construction contracts, quality assurance/quality control, and safety.
+ Proficient in Project M including opening bids, updating bids based on award/no award, opening jobs, setting up phase codes and budgets, writing purchasing PO, updating weekly installed quantities, and monthly forecasting, reports & opportunities.
+ Ability to mark up drawings, add notes, and do take-offs using Bluebeam.
Necessary Skills:
+ Mentor, coach, develop, and manage project staff.
+ Ability to successfully manage and support concurrent projects.
+ Demonstrated abilities to perform Project Manager's primary responsibilities
+ Ability to ensure that project teams consistently practice all standard company processes, procedures, and commitment to safety.

+ A valid driver's license and clean driving record are required.
Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements for this role include the ability to transition frequently between an office and a construction field setting. In the office, the individual must be able to sit for extended periods while working at a computer, performing repetitive tasks such as typing and using a mouse, and communicating by telephone. In the field, the individual must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods on various surfaces, including uneven terrain, and climbing stairs as required. The role also necessitates the ability to kneel, crouch, and crawl to view/inspect tight spaces, as well as occasionally lifting 40 pounds. Good vision and hearing are essential for reading plans, inspecting work, and communicating on-site. The individual must adhere to the site-specific dress code and comply with safety requirements by wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots. Flexibility to travel between job sites and work outside regular business hours when necessary is also required.
