Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Renewable Energy Project Finance Analyst (Senior Financial Analyst) to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with the Vice President of Finance to support tax equity and debt transactions for renewable energy projects as well as project acquisitions (M&A). Key responsibilities include managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, valuing projects and modeling financing structures, and performing ad-hoc analysis in collaboration with other internal workstreams. This includes supporting project financing funding requests, preparing investment summaries, supporting transaction diligence and assisting with corporate reporting. This position is ideal for a candidate looking to gain hands-on deal experience in renewable energy finance with a small, supportive team and experienced sponsor.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Vice President of Finance to support tax equity and debt transactions for renewable energy projects.
- Conduct financial analysis and modeling to evaluate the financial feasibility and profitability of acquisition and project finance opportunities.
- Prepare detailed financial models, cash flow projections, and sensitivity analyses to assess investment returns and risk factors.
- Assist in the preparation of term sheets, investment memos, and other relevant documents for M&A, tax equity, and debt transactions.
- Coordinate project handoffs to the asset management team, ensuring a smooth transition from project development to operations.
- Support project financing funding requests by preparing financial analyses, investment summaries, and supporting documentation.
- Contribute to financial planning and analysis activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Assist in investor relations activities, such as preparing investor presentations, conducting financial due diligence, and responding to investor inquiries.
- Contribute to corporate reporting requirements, including financial statements, regulatory filings, and internal reporting packages.
- Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact project finance activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, accounting, and project development, to ensure alignment and compliance with project finance requirements.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. MBA or CFA designation is a plus.
- 3 years of experience in M&A analysis, project finance, investment banking, or a similar role within the renewable energy industry.
- Solid understanding of tax equity and debt financing structures, project finance principles, and renewable energy policies, with a strong desire to learn more and gain direct deal experience.
- Comfortable working with complex financial models and strong knowledge base of investing and valuation concepts.
- Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and identify key insights.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Travel and Work Environment
Hybrid position based in Washington, D.C. HQ
Compensation
This position offers an annual base salary range of $125,000.00 - $150,000.00, an incentive plan, and a robust benefits package.
