CDR Maguire (CDR|M) delivers solutions that move people, and we are looking for a Senior Roadway Project Manager/Highway Engineer V (Senior Project Engineer) to join our Transportation Engineering Division in our Mechanicsburg, PA office. This role will be responsible for performing a variety of complex design and plan preparation functions on multiple projects, as well as leading/overseeing and checking the work of others. The position will function as a project manager/work group leader in the development of PS&E packages and/or a portion of PS&E packages. It is expected the position may plan, organize, lead, implement, and control various projects in support of the Regional Transportation Manager and in conjunction with other project managers in the division. Individuals who have experience in project management and business development will perform the following in this role:
Essential Functions:
Operational/Technical
- Act as Project Manager/Work Group Leader on mid-sized and large projects.
- Supervise and guide highway/traffic engineering design functions performed by the project team, including subconsultant coordination.
- Perform complex design functions, including preliminary and final design, review or checking of designs, engineering computations, specifications, cost estimates, and report writing, etc.
- Monitor the performance of projects, including quality, schedule, and budget.
- Perform drafting and checking of highway related drawings.
- Prepare contract documents, plans, and sketches utilizing client approved design software.
- Assist in supervising the efforts of the highway/traffic/water resource design team, including developing the technical skills and project knowledge of co-workers..
- Keep up to date with new design technology, constructions equipment and advancements.
- Provide support to other offices as needed.
Project Manager (for assigned clients/projects)
- Provide primary communication interface with clients.
- Monitor project budgets, prepare project budget forecasts, and oversee preparation of technical price proposals.
- Oversee and coordinate detailed project/planning, develop and update design and construction schedules.
- Assist in the development of letters of interest and proposals.
- Conduct and document meetings and conversations with clients.
- Coordinate work with subconsultants and other involved parties, managing sub consultant budget and deliverables.
- Initiate project design correspondence.
- Maintain high quality performance and inspection standards within billable goals that properly balance profitability with the quality standards of the organization.
- Conduct and document post-project review meetings.
- Maintain project emails and files in accordance with Company File and Storage Policy.
- Drive improvements and efficiencies that result in optimized profit margins on each project.
- Maintain compliance standards amongst the staff to properly adhere to a sound risk management plan so that the company operates within established regulatory guidelines.
Financial
- In conjunction with Transportation Division Manager, participate in financial reviews on a quarterly basis and company-wide project audits on a bi-annual basis.
OTHER PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
- Other duties that may arise from time-to-time and/or are commensurate with the title and position.
- Travel as required nd it relates to above duties or as directed by supervisor.
- Attend training prerequisites as provided by the company.

Requirements
- B.S. Degree in Engineering or related field required; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum fifteen (15) years of relevant related experience.
- Minimum ten (10) years of progressively responsible highway/traffic/water resource design related experience.
- Professional Engineer License in good standing or ability to obtain within initial six-months of employment.
- Applied knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal statutes and guidelines with respect to field.
- Knowledge of CDR-M Design and Office Procedures.
- Knowledge of clients' design manuals, procedures, specifications, standards, computer programs, applicable design codes, engineering software, and plan presentation format.
- Knowledge of written communications including technical reports, letters, meeting minutes, etc.
- Knowledge of highway, right-of-way, drainage, and traffic-related design
- Skilled in the use of relevant computer software as needed, including but not limited to, Bentley MicroStation CADD, Autodesk AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Bluebeam as well as other online resources.
- Ability to check or review design and drawings of highway/traffic elements. Ability to supervise and guide other members of the highway/traffic/water resource design team.
- Ability to solve complex engineering problems.
- Ability to communicate effectively with ownership, management, co-workers, customers, vendors, contractors, partners, and other stakeholders.
