Senior Services Manager (anticipated start date 1/2/2025)
CLASS SUMMARY: Manages the Senior Center and Community Building and provides referral assistance to senior citizens in the city. Oversees classes, activities, volunteer initiatives, transportation and services. Supervises the Senior Services Program Specialist. Prepares and administers the annual budget. Monitors expenditures during the year and makes recommendations for budget modifications or additional funds. |
TYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.) |
1. | Manages operations and programming for Senior Center and Community Building rentals and usage; ensures compliance with applicable internal and external requirements; and assists with managing applicable contracts associated with program operations. |
2. | Supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and implementing hiring, termination, and disciplinary procedures. |
3. | Develops and/or implements program goals, objectives, activities, and strategic initiatives; assesses consequences and outcomes of program initiatives; and makes recommendations related to areas of opportunity in assigned programmatic areas. |
4. | Responsible for overseeing programs and events, specifically for active older adults; and recruiting and training volunteers to participate in the Good Neighbor Team, Handyman services, and other initiatives. |
5. | Responsible for preparing and managing the annual operating and expenditures budget for the Senior Services Division including obtaining and/or approving invoices, quotes, recruiting instructors, selecting vendors, and entering into contracts. |
6. | Coordinates with internal and external departments, personnel, and/or agencies, including the public, instructors, and Board and Council members; attends meetings; and serves as a liaison, to facilitate and coordinate department operations and communicate information. |
7. | Ensures safety protocols and issues are addressed in regards to facility and vehicle maintenance. |
8. | Prepares, reviews, and/or updates financial and general reports, memos, letters, records, newsletters, and/or marketing and related collateral materials; designs and updates websites; and maintains and updates databases and online systems; work may involve researching, compiling, and analyzing data, and making recommendations for improvement. |
9. | Work may involve completing grant application and submittal, assisting with community special events, training other staff on Senior Services operations, and may operate a 14-passenger bus. |
10. | Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. |
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: |
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS: CPR and AED certification required or ability to obtain within six months |

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Medium Work: Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbents work primarily in an office environment. However, there may be some exposure to hazardous materials such as chemicals, blood, and other bodily fluids, and may also be exposed to outdoor temperatures. |
