We are looking to hire a Senior Software Engineer. Our products incorporate ground-breaking technologies, from HoloLens, the Holographic Processing Unit (HPU), to image/video processing, depth sensing, computational photography, computer vision, graphics, machine learning, human-computer interaction, gesture recognition, eye tracking, hand tracking and biometrics. We bring these technologies to HoloLens and other future devices.
The Calibrations teams charter is to provide accurate mathematical characterizations of sensors and displays to enable simultaneous localization and mapping, scene understanding, and presentation of holograms. We are a mix of computer vision and engineering aficionados that pioneer calibration techniques for Mixed Reality. We are looking for a software engineer who is comfortable with C++ and/or Python, computer vision, and image processing, to help us create next-gen calibration solutions for the Integrated Visual Augmentation System (contract awarded by the United States Army) and other upcoming products.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of professional experience developing and shipping software in C++ or Python.
- Familiarity with fundamental concepts of computer vision/image processing, e.g., pinhole cameras, rigid transformations, operations on images and filtering, feature detection, through either professional exposure or self-learning.

- This role will require access to information that is controlled for export under export control regulations, potentially under the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations or Export Administration Regulations, the EU Dual Use Regulation, and/or other export control regulations. - Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
- Academic or professional experience with applications of computer vision, image processing, machine learning, robotics, computer graphics, or related disciplines.
- Experience with mathematical packages in C++ and Python, e.g., ceres, Eigen, numpy, scipy, and numeric computing platforms such as Matlab/Octave or Jupyter.
- Experience with non-linear optimization and numerical algorithms
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.

Responsibilities
- Implement and advance calibration solutions for mixed reality devices, with focus on calibration of cameras and displays, and evaluate their performance.
- Solve computer vision, image processing, and optimization problems arising in geometric calibration of mixed reality devices.
- Support manufacturing and factory calibration of mixed reality devices.
- Evaluate requirements, estimate development costs, design and implement software, review implementation, improve the development process, perform unit testing, integrate software into larger systems, communicate status, analyze risks and compromises, or diagnose and resolve issues.
