Reports To: Finance Manager

PURPOSE OF JOB: Responsible for the execution of accounting functions in accordance with GAAP, applicable laws and district policies, procedures, and guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following.

1. Prepare and review journal entries as part of closing out financial periods.
2. Prepare and review monthly balance sheet account reconciliations. Coordinate with other departments to receive and disseminate information.
3. Review general ledger accounts for any discrepancies.
4. Reconcile cash general ledger accounts to bank statements.
5. Coordinate with managers of grant programs to collect data required for reporting.
6. Assist with the annual audit in compliance with the U.S. Office of Management & Budget Circular A-133. Prepare the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA).
7. Assist with the preparation of the Schedule of Selected Statistics.
8. Assist with the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report by updating statements and schedules as assigned.
9. Assist with audit requests as required.
10. Assist with processing accounts payable functions as required.
11. Prepare and review journal entries of daily cash receipts.
12. Assist with physical inventories of capital assets.
13. Assist with tagging capital assets.
14. Prepare, record, review and reconcile capital asset additions, disposals, and depreciation.
15. Support management through data collection, analysis, and special projects.
16. Support the administration of the School District Administrative Claiming (SDAC) program.
17. Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reading accounting publications.
18. Maintain accounting records by keeping information secure and confidential.
19. Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing job objectives.
20. Cross-train in other functional areas as assigned.
21. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. CPA certification preferred.
2. 1-3 years of experience as a Staff Accountant.
3. Proficiency using personal computers and software including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
4. Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong mathematical aptitude and attention to detail.
5. Professional verbal and written communication skills.

Length of work year: 12 months 7.5 hours per day/ 5 days per week; 260 workdays
