Senior Staff Accountant - Joint Venture - HMS Host

About the Job
Essential Functions:
• Assists with calculations and payments of JV partner cash flow distributions and management fees
• Assists with preparation of monthly financial statements for all joint ventures
• Supports the collection of joint venture receivables and notes
• Assists with preparation of annual joint venture statements and tax packages
• Reconciles minority interest payables, loan balances and other joint venture balance sheet accounts
• Prepares audit schedules for preliminary and annual audits with Deloitte
• Assists with preparation and maintenance of JV receivables and notes
• Interact with Legal, Business Development and Operations Management on joint ventures related matters
Reporting Relationship: The Senior Staff Accountant, JV Accounting reports into the Director of JV Accounting
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:
• Education and Experience: The combination of education and professional experience must exceed 6 years:
- In a technical role: Requires 6 years of accounting experience engaged in delivering JV accounting programs
- A bachelor’s degree in a program related to the functional area can count for 3 of the 6-year requirement
- In the industry: 3-5 years of hospitality, F&B and/or retail experience
• Specialized Training:
- Training that leads to understanding of GAAP
- Knowledge of state and federal tax regulations and statutes
• Specialized Skillset/Competencies/Traits
- Business acumen and also has the mindset required to understand the long-term implications of accounting to advance the organizations goals
- Demonstrated history of understanding the needs of the business, stakeholders, the employee population, and individual circumstances
- Demonstrated history of creating and maintaining positive work environments
• Location: This position is based at the F&B Center of Excellence in Bethesda, MD
