Our client is a growing residential distribution and service company based in Spring, Texas, dedicated to providing exceptional services to residential customers in the Greater Houston area at affordable prices. They are currently looking to add a Senior Staff Accountant to their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$75k – $85k
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Staff Accountant with 3 – 5 years of full-cycle accounting experience who is ready for a leadership role in our client’s dynamic organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of GAAP, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. This Senior Staff Accountant role requires excellent communication skills, discretion in handling sensitive information, and a strategic mindset for problem-solving. The Senior Staff Accountant will be vital in providing comprehensive accounting support, overseeing financial operations, and driving process improvements.
Responsibilities of the Senior Staff Accountant:
- Record and apply customer payments daily, ensuring accuracy.
- Prepare and distribute monthly client statements.
- Lead the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Process vendor invoices, returns, and credit memos weekly.
- Maintain digital records of invoices, vendor documents, and related AP/AR documentation.
- Assist with the calculation of accounting accruals at month-end.
- Analyze and provide monthly insights into expenses, financial trends, and the company’s overall liquidity status.
- Collaborate with the Controller during regulatory and financial audits.
- Mentor and support junior accounting staff, fostering their professional growth.
Qualifications for the Senior Staff Accountant:
- 3 – 5 years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
- Prior experience with AR/AP systems and month-end closing processes.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Great Plains or MS Dynamics 365 – Business Central is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to deadlines.

Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- CPA or relevant certification is a plus.
