Job Summary
PSE&G is seeking a new member for the Technical Training team within the Centralized Services organization at our Edison, NJ location. The team performs analysis, design, development and evaluation of technical training for PSE&G line of business clients. This position will have a focus on technical skills training and course development for apprentice and incumbent employee training in accordance with their job specifications, collective bargaining obligations and regulatory requirements across Electric, Gas, and Customer Operations.
The role has overall responsibility to lead instructional design projects by managing the gathering, transforming and analysis of data to develop learning content. The individual will be able to work with Peer Companies (non-PSEG) to identify and flesh out Best Practices and Technologies that can be integrated into PSEG practices. The Sr. Training & Development Specialist – Instructional Design will influence actions with meaningful data and maintain constant interaction with Senior Leadership to have a direct influence on decision-makers to effectuate change as a result of corporate learning recommendations. S/he will represent manager in meetings or absence. Individual establishes work priorities in concert with Team Leader / Manager and executes projects. S/he will secure the necessary data and resources to achieve results and use influence to obtain the needed inputs. Trains instructors in curriculum development and in training technique/tools. Guides junior ID positions. Leads teams (Bargaining Unit associates, MAST, subject matter experts, and field personnel) to develop training curriculum content.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead teams to develop training curriculum content by collaborating with BU associates, MAST, subject matter experts, and field personnel.
- Develop web-based training using various learning technologies (Articulate 360, SuccessFactors LMS, Questionmark, MS Office).
- Collaborates with team members to understand impacts to training material from the results of Level 1 and Level 2 assessments, as well as performance feedback from the operating units.
- Trains instructors in curriculum development and in training technique/tools. Responsible to coach and develop other trainers on the curriculum.
- Lead and develop team members to grow in their roles.
- Candidate must be available in case of a storm emergency to support staging area assignments.
Job Specific Qualifications
Required:
- BS / BA degree in Instructional Design, Learning Tech, Business (with Instructional Design experience), Education or similar field experience.
- Over 7 years of experience or equivalent in the facilitation, analysis, and evaluation processes of instructional design (ADDIE)
- At least 5 years of indirect supervisory experience or 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated instructional design ability with a proven ability to gather and synthesize data to design/develop meaningful learning content.
- Strong planning and organizing skills, must be both adaptable and results oriented.
- Demonstrated expertise in software packages appropriate for the department (MS Office software, Articulate 360, SuccessFactors LMS)
- Relevant work experience that demonstrates an ability to plan and complete work assignments.
- Ability to lead assignments and design teams (particularly when the individual is the senior person) working on a common project.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to build strong relationships with clients
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record
- Storm Duty – will be called upon to support storm duty as needed
Desired:
- Extensive experience with learning technologies
- Experience leading teams and managing learning design projects
- Extensive experience with software packages appropriate for the department (MS Office software, Articulate 360, SuccessFactors LMS) and the ability to train others to use them
- Experience in a supervision role
