The VS Code team in the Developer Division is seeking an experienced **Senior UX Engineer** to join our tight-knit, cross-disciplinary team building the world's best code editor. As part of the VS Code team, you will deeply understand the needs of a devoted community of developers and deliver world-class experiences that empower them to build the software of tomorrow.
You will be joining the Developer Division Design Studio, a group of highly talented Designers and UX Engineers that collaborate across our portfolio of developer tools and services. ?

**Responsibilities**
+ You'll work side-by-side with developers, product managers, and researchers to design, build, and ship new experiences in VS Code every single month. Because VS Code is an open-source project, you'll be interacting directly with the developer community and designing alongside them "in the open".??
+ You will design experiences that cut across the whole product: from core code editing experiences to cutting-edge AI workflows. You will also evolve the VS Code design system, design resources (toolkits, icon library), and design patterns to deliver a cohesive user experience.?

**Qualifications**
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Graphic Design, Product Design, Visual Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 4+ years experience working in product or service design and/or shipping production code
+ OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Graphic Design, Product Design, Visual Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 3+ years experience working in product or service design and/or shipping production code
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ 4+ years experience with current design tools (e.g. Figma)
+ 4+ years experience developing in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/Typescript
**Other Requirements:**
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:?
+ Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Graphic Design, Product Design, Visual Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 8+ years experience working in product or service design and/or shipping production code
+ OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Graphic Design, Product Design, Visual Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 6+ years experience working in product or service design and/or shipping production code
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ 4+ years experience shipping production-ready code as a result of a collaborative process
+ 5 - 7?years' experience designing products in a technical product space
+ Experience contributing to product repositories and builds using Git
+ Experience creating interactive prototypes
+ Experience working in an engineering sprint-based environment
+ Working knowledge of VS Code or other development tools
UX Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
