WHAT YOU DO AS A SHEAR OPERATOR?
Your role as a Shear Operator is not just about operating machinery but about ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency every step of the way. Throughout the day, you handle raw materials with precision, monitor inventory levels, and maintain a keen eye on quality control, making necessary adjustments to meet production tolerances. You meticulously set up and operate the shearing machine, ensuring that each cut meets production specifications. When troubleshooting machine issues, you act swiftly and report any major malfunctions to the maintenance teams. Safety and compliance are always at the forefront of your mind as you diligently follow procedures, maintain a clean work area, and uphold all company policies and OSHA regulations.
WHAT'S REQUIRED?
- 1+ years of experience operating industrial shearing machines is preferred
- Knowledge of measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, rulers) and blueprint reading
- Familiarity with metal types and material properties (steel, aluminum, etc.)
- Computer skills for transferring and processing inventory within the system
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Strong attention to detail and focus on quality
- Good communication skills and teamwork abilities
- Knowledge of safety protocols in an industrial setting
- Problem-solving skills and ability to cut and save material
- Ability to work in an industrial setting with exposure to noise, dust, and heavy machinery
- Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) and work in a physically demanding environment
- Ability to work independently and meet production deadlines
- Ability to stand, bend, and lift throughout shifts
- Ability to work overtime and weekends
- Forklift certification (preferred but not required)
