The Excalibur Group is currently seeking Shelter Workers/TAM Monitor in Washington, DC to provide care and support for DC residents at multiple shelters throughout the District.

Shelter Workers, we are offering flexibility in your work hours as shifts can be day shifts or overnight shifts (7 AM to 7 PM, or 7 PM to 7 AM). Personnel will be scheduled to accommodate the needs of our client and anticipate working between 40-60 hours a week no more than 12 hours in a workday.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive and welcome guests at Temporary Accommodations for Migrants (TAM).
- Follows prescribed procedures for safe meal and snack service.
- Serves food items to guests, in accordance with specific instructions.
- Organize and distribute inventory as appropriate for operational needs.
- Assist with physical inventory of specific shelter items.
- Interact with guests to support a welcoming environment, and direct questions and requests to the appropriate team member.
- Work in an environment that is fast paced, completing multiple tasks efficiently, safely while meeting stringent timelines.
- Handle requests in a timely and efficient manner.
- Communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally with others, verbally and in writing.
- Perform administrative duties in support of an assigned area of responsibility.
- Guide guests to follow all health and safety protocols, as directed by the agency, including cleaning/sanitizing of vehicles and all shelter spaces.
- Coordinate with on-site security to support maintenance of a safe and clean space; indoors and outdoors.
- Maintain a clean and tidy environment at the TAM, assist with cleaning and sanitizing the building when there are concerns related to cleanliness or safety outside of scheduled cleaning service provider work.
Locations
- Be available and willing to travel to multiple locations within Washington DC and deal with multiple daily work scenarios, thinking quickly on your feet to complete assigned tasks in a professional manner.
- This position will require work to be conducted onsite and will require work on some weekends/holidays in excess of 40 hours per week with Over Time Pay.
- Job sites will be in NE, Washington, D.C.
- Jobs sites are subject to change or be added based on client needs and continued employment requires you to be able to work on site.
- Must be a DC resident.
- Spanish speaking candidates preferred.
- Have a HS Diploma or GED.
- Have a current and valid Driver's License
- Two years’ experience in providing direct care to vulnerable populations
- Ability to think and analyze very quickly, follow instructions, and perform task.
- Ability to support survivors in crisis with empathy while maintaining professional boundaries
- Strong technological skills to include using computers, phone applications.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs and be on your feet for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to pass a Child Abuse background check, and all applicable state and federal criminal background checks.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Must provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
- $27/hour overtime pay available
