Primary purpose: Under direction of terminal management, coordinates/assists in the completion of daily tasks of assigned employees to meet department goals and to ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards. Essential duties and responsibilities: • Provide direction for the loading and unloading of railcars, truck and barges, and verify that paperwork is correctly completed. • Ensure the following routine objectives are met daily: (1) Verify all transfers are performed; (2) Proper Personal Protective Equipment is worn by employees; (3) All drivers, visitors, contractors, and employees are conforming to company policies; (4) All daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual preventive maintenance is being performed as scheduled on equipment; (5) All Personal Protective Equipment is properly cleaned and stored; (6) All pre-loading, loading, and post loading procedures are maintained; (7) All shifts are covered in the event of absence. • Coordinate, prepare, and/or present employee training. • Assist employees in troubleshooting difficulties in all operations at all sites. • Confer with management regarding operational and employee issues. • Communicate with customers, vendors, and carriers as needed. • Assist management with recommendations on employee performance, safety, and incentive activity. • Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns. • Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork. • Perform all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements. • Participate in and present daily/weekly safety meetings. • Coordinate the completion of general preventative maintenance activities, repairs, and housekeeping tasks. A high degree of cleanliness and organization should be maintained. • Perform any other terminal functions as trained, requested, and instructed by supervision.
Minimum requirements: Education: High School Graduate or equivalent. Experience / specific knowledge: • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Work, and database applications. • Experience using hand tools performing general maintenance tasks. • Basic knowledge and experience on specific equipment used in the terminal Certifications, licenses, registrations: Valid drivers license. Competencies, skills, and abilities: • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines. • Ability to accept supervision/direction and work effectively and cooperatively with other people. • Ability to carry and communicate over a company provided mobile radio. • Must possess basic math skills in regards to addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. • Must possess safety training and security certification as required by customers to work in their facilities and as required by all Kinder Morgan locations. • Ability to deal with evolving operating conditions with few concrete variables in standardized situations. • Ability to focus attention and follow work rules. • Demonstrate aptitude to execute and maintain necessary records. • Successful completion of background check and post-offer and random drug screens. Physical demands: • While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must meet physical requirements including but not limited to, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing up/down ladders and stairs, negotiating uneven and moving surfaces, and frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds. Employee must be able to work at heights up to 80 feet and on floating platforms in water. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. • Must meet medical criteria for use of respiratory protective equipment when required. Working conditions: • Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed and required. • Must be available to respond to call-out as assigned. • Perform work in dusty environment and all types of temperature/weather conditions. • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the environment is usually loud. • Must be available for assignments at multiple berths within a 12 mile radius. Supervisory responsibility: Yes Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position: • Prior experience in bulk handling facility. • Prior experience in steel related facility • Prior supervisory experience. • Experience operating trucks, loaders, conveyors, excavators, and hydraulic forklift. • Diploma or Certificate from accredited trade/vocational school.
