ATeam Leader is responsible for ensuring functions associated with inventory distribution and accountability within the distribution center is completed accurately and timely. Team leaders lead and direct the complete shift operation from opening to closing shift work day. They assist in interviewing potential associate candidates and workplace management under the direction of the Warehouse/Facilities Manager.
Team leader's direct, train and monitor associates in distribution functions to include receipt, store, inventory, order selection, packaging, label and shipping. An understanding of basic distribution functions such as implementing standard operating procedures or value stream mapping of processes and procedures are key to successfully obtaining daily work measurements.
Performance expectations include the ability to work with warehouse management systems to determine metrics such as productivity, on time performance, etc. Team leader knowledge in warehouse functions should be supplemented by good human resource skills. The ability to interview, train, coach, and mentor are significant in the development of associates and client business development.
The team leader must be able to, at all times, multi task in a fast paced environment, and prioritize work based on the order schedule, and customer requests. This position will learn all aspects of the inbound, and outbound process both on the floor via the RF gun, and on the computer via SAP.
Job Functions
- Monitor all inbound & outbound runs to ensure timely unloading / loading.
- Understanding of MS Office is required (outlook, excel, PowerPoint, etc).
- Managing 6-10 warehouse associates (hours, tasks, etc...)
- Back up for every position and process in the warehouse operations
- Daily reports to upper management & team
- Documentation of all PO#'s and quantities loaded for outbound delivery.
- The receipt of products on inbound trailers (a detailed and accurate check in of freight vs. BOL & packing list).
- Labeling and staging product in the correct designated locations.
- Picking inventory accurately by sku#, piece qty, and/or location.
- Ability to use RF (radio frequency) scans guns with a basic knowledge of all its related functions.
- Courteous interaction with customers, clients, and fellow associates.
- Drive Continuous Improvement for Work Process
- Working SAFELY under OSHA and company guidelines to prevent injury of themselves and others around them.
- Inventory accountability and accuracy actions such as cycle counts and audit processes
- Prepare and report daily metrics at accountability meeting.
- Hold Daily Start up meetings with shift crew.
- Daily work in SAP both on the floor via RF gun, and on the computer.
- Other duties as required by management
Work Environment:
- Will work on the warehouse floor, and on a computer at the warehouse cubicle.

Repetitive/Prolonged Movements
- Continuous computer operation (i.e. typing, mouse, reading monitor, etc.) for up to 8 hours for the purpose of inventory, data retrieval and entry, printing orders and documents, and returns.
- Continuous gripping for the purpose of selecting and grabbing product for packing and operating equipment hand controls.
- Occasional fine manipulation for the purpose of performing rework and labeling.
- Continuous standing/walking for the purpose of inventory counting and checking, retrieving, and inspecting.
- Continuous upper body (arms, hands, wrists) for the purpose of inventory counting and checking, and shipping/receiving.
Working Conditions
- Noise/Vibration: No noise above OSHA hazard levels.
- Gear/Tool: Utility knives, headsets and communicators, hand scanners, hand taping tools, calculators, RF equipment.
- Machinery: Shrink wrappers, scales, conveyors, computers, label maker, clampers, fork truck
Heavy Object Movements
- Possible lifting and carrying up to a maximum of 50 lb. packed boxes.
