TITLE: SHIPYARD FABRICATOR
JOB SUMMARY:
The Shipyard Fabricator is responsible for providing lay-out, assembly, fitting, tacking, welding and finishing of shipyard components and assemblies in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lay out work. Must perform lay-out independently.
- Read and understand plans and specifications. Visualize two dimensional drawings in three dimensions.
- Follow established jobsite safety and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work area.
- Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary; assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and workpieces during installation; may perform minor maintenance and cleaning activities of shop, tools and equipment.
- Use appropriate hand and power tools to properly measure, cut, bend, fit and weld steel and to install all other related items in accordance with the applicable plans and specifications.
- Perform other routine duties as directed by experienced craft workers.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be willing to learn, understand, and promote our ESOP culture.
- Must have basic hand tools.
- Ability to take proper measurements
- Show willingness to learn the trade and advance
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required
- 500 ton press brake
- Piranha Iron Worker
- Hydraulic Band Saw
- 750 ton shear
- Drill Press
- Proficient in welding (preferably)
- Ability to take on a project from start to finish (with little guidance)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School education or GED
- Minimum of one (1) year of shipyard or industrial construction experience.
