Talascend is currently seeking a Site Safety Representative (Traveler) for a contract opportunity in Shepherdsville, KY.
SUMMARY:
The purpose of a Site Safety Representative (SSR) is to direct attention to safety issues and facilitate communication between the client Safety Team, Site Managers, and the workers on safety issues. This will help reduce incidents and injuries. This policy will outline client requirements and provide information on how a SSR can make an effective contribution to health and safety the jobsite.

- Communication is the key to an effective health and safety program. The SSR provides a link between workers and management. This encourages the people who know the most about the work to give input on the safety environment.
- The SSR brings health and safety issues to the client. In turn, improves the communication between the site and client management.

- If at any time client feels as though it is necessary to deploy a SSR to a jobsite there must be communication between all parties involved to determine the best solution.
Site Safety Representative Minimum Qualifications:
- The SSR must meet certain criteria and level of training.
- The training shall consist of on-the-job training and designated
- training sessions. If a member of the client team will be utilized at this capacity training sessions can be led by the client
- Intralogistics America safety team, online, MyWyn, or offsite at a vendor location.
Site Safety Representative:
- At least 5 years of documented leadership experience on medium to large scale projects
- Completed OSHA 30
- First aid/CPR/AED trained.
- Completed a “qualified persons” 70E training course.
SAFETY MANUAL
- Extensive knowledge in LOTO.
- Competent person in fall protection and awareness.
- Extensive knowledge of power industrial trucks (PITs).
- Extensive knowledge of arial lifts (scissor and boom lifts).
- Completed basic rigging and inspection training.
- Extensive knowledge of OSHA CFR 1926 and 1910 standards.
- Ability to speak to large groups.
- Ability to develop jobsite documents such as JHAs, toolbox talks, safety audits…..
- Accident investigation training
- Basic computer skills.
Responsibilities of a Site Safety Representative:
- Be on the project floor 80-90% of the time.
- Complete one safety audit in SiteDocs per day.
- Assist client in an accident investigation if needed.
- Notify client of any injury/incident immediately.
- Perform toolbox talks on a weekly basis with all employees and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA 1926/1910 regulations.
- Ensure compliance with client Policies and Procedures including but not limited to, hot work, PPE, LOTO, ARC Flash, rigging, fall protection, housekeeping, electrical work, working from heights, etc…
- Communicate with safety team on a regular basis.
- This will be determined by client safety at the beginning of the project.
- The cadence of communication may change depending on the status of the site.
- Assist client safety in the completion of the jobsite safety orientation.
- Ensure all PITs and aerial lift inspections are being completed at the start of each shift.
- Ensure JHAs are completed and retained for the remainder of the project.
- Identify hazards and work with site management to correct.
- Complete near miss/good catch reports as needed.
- Be a liaison to the customer site safety (if applicable)
- Provide basic first aid for injured employees.
- Ensure all safety are up to date and on the jobsite at the beginning of the project.
- Assist client with the gathering and submittal of documentation to the customer, if applicable.
- Assist safety or site managers in any disciplinary actions that takes place on the jobsite.
- Work hand in hand with site managers to develop and maintain a safe jobsite.
- Attend any necessary meetings.
SAFETY MANUAL:
Responsibilities of the Project Execution Team:
- Notify safety team of the jobsite and team member that will be assigned to the site.
- If feasible staff jobsites that require a SSR with a qualified candidate from their team.
- Work in conjunction with the client safety team to ensure all safety related tasks assigned
- to the SSR are being completed.
- Notify safety team as soon as possible if they are unable to supply a SSR.
- Report all safety related items to the safety team on the project.
- Supply safety with all SSR qualification documentation.
Responsibilities of the Safety Team:
- Assist the PET team to qualify and train team members to become a SSR.
- Work with the PET team to provide a qualified candidate for a project if the PET team cannot support that project.
- Set up SSR in SiteDocs.
- Review audits performed by the SSR.
- Communicate findings with PET team and assist in assigning corrective actions.
- Direct SSR if there is an incident on site.
- Ensure toolbox talks are available in SiteDocs for SSR.
- Have at minimum weekly call with SSR.
- Notify PET team of any incident.
- Support SSR in any other way necessary to be successful at the jobsite.
