Job Overview
The Slab Distribution Center Manager is responsible for slab receiving, slab loading/unloading, slab transfers, slab distribution, excellent customer service, growth in fabricator sales, and increased sales as outlined in your growth plan. You have a professional and stable personality and pay attention to the operations and sales/customer service details to ensure constant improvement and increased efficiency.
Duties
- Ensure all safety directives are enforced, all personnel are properly trained, and equipment is maintained
- Gain knowledge of all current and new slabs and other product collections offered by the Company
- Develop relationships with fabricators in the area by hosting events at the facility
- Host events at the facility for our quarterly product launches
- Strategize and develop methods for attracting new business and increasing existing business
- Provide superior customer service and set an example for staff members
- Process P/O receiving's for incoming slab containers including uploading/editing photos and material locations
- Properly receive, inspect, inventory, transfer, load and unload slabs
- Work with slab purchasing managers to strategize on slab purchasing
- Study our competitor sales and market trends to ensure we are selling cutting edge products with competitive pricing
- Educate sales staff and customers on the differences in slab grade/quality and pricing
- Ensure efficient and cost-effective distribution of slabs to our branch locations considering turns at each branch
- Regularly promote and sell discontinued slabs and slow-moving slabs to eliminate from inventory
- Ensure proper personnel training on all slab operational procedures and slab characteristics for sales
- Review sales reports daily and hold motivational sales meetings with staff
- Meet monthly sales quotas by setting weekly sales goals for your team
- Complete all administrative tasks timely
- Communicate clearly and professionally with all staff
- Implement all company directives and procedures
- Enforce all company policies and follow proper HR disciplinary actions if needed
- Manage time efficiently and delegate tasks as appropriate
- Conduct weekly staff meetings to inform employees of new products, procedures, strategies, and general company news
- Coordinate vendor product knowledge sessions for all staff members
- Conduct safety meetings and inspections with all appropriate staff members
- Manage all branch expenses
- Prepare, coordinate, and assist with physical inventories
- Promote Bedrosians products and services
- Maintain and increase professional and technical knowledge by reviewing product literature, manuals, and manufacturer bulletins, as well as attending vendor/ manufacturer seminars whenever available
- Work with your branch's outside sales representative(s) to increase the company's client base and market share
- Create a structured employee work schedule, manage overtime, and submit sick and vacation time for employees as needed
- Coach sales staff to help meet individual and branch sales goals
- Work within the framework of the company's defined rules, procedures, goals and directives.
- Any other duties required of the position
Minimum Qualifications
- College Degree
- Five (5) or more years working in slab distribution and sales
- Knowledge of slab characteristics, purchasing, distribution, and safety
- Prior experience in the tile and stone industry
- Driver's License (must provide current MVR)
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
