Are you passionate about empowering individuals through social skill development and community engagement? We are looking for a dynamic Social Group Specialist to lead our diverse Social Group program!
The Social Group brings together a diverse individuals who are looking to meet new people and improve their social skills. With the Social Group Specialist, individuals practice a variety of social skills, such as leadership, teamwork, humor, and manners. Our mission is to empower individuals through social skill development and community engagement.
This program meets every Wednesday from 11am-2pm in 8-week sessions. At least twice per session, the group will go on outings in the communities for activities like bowling, painting, or volunteering. Individuals in the group must be 18 or older and must be serviced by DDS.
Job Summary: The Social Group Specialist, in collaboration with the GPS Project Manager, implements and oversees the ARPA-funded drop-in services programs at the Center for Linking Lives
Schedule: Wednesdays, 10am-2:30pm
Pay Rate: $19-21 per hour based on education and experience.
Major Responsibilities:
- Assists Guided Personal Support (GPS) and Recreation department in delivering community-based athletic, adventure, art, social, and educational programs, events, trips, and workshops hosted during Drop-In Services.
- Assists GPS Project Manager and/or designated program lead in supervising volunteers during the delivery of programs, events, trips, and workshops.
- Assists in program documentation as needed.
- Maintains close contact with the GPS Project Manager and Program Director(s) regarding incidents. Ensures proper documentation and submission of mandated reporting.
- Attends periodic supervision and training regarding developing and implementing programming and job performance.
- Tracks attendance and distributes invoices provided by the Program Manager or Lead Recreation Specialist for each attendee at each session s/he manages.
Qualifications:
- High school completion or equivalent is a requirement.
- 1-2 years working with individuals with developmental disabilities, including autism, is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient technology skills to provide needed documentation and notes and clock in and out when working.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- A valid driver’s license is required.
