Position Purpose
This position plays a crucial role as a bridge between business groups and development teams. The role relies upon experience and judgment to design innovative functional workflow and automation solutions to meet real market problems for the healthcare payer space. Tasks include documentation of functional requirements, creating use cases, and creating workflows for new applications or modifications to existing ones. This position performs a variety of complicated tasks related to the functional software design of user interface and user experience for PLEXIS products, and a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Essential Functions and Basic Duties
- Analyze requests for software product features and enhancements and translate those into requirements and functional design specifications
- Knowledge of current software design trends, standards, and best practices in UI/UX design
- Design user interaction models, workflows, and interfaces
- Proficiency in creating intuitive, user-friendly interfaces for web and mobile applications
- Ability to translate complex user requirements into elegant and functional designs
- Experience with user research techniques such as surveys, interviews, and usability labs to inform design decisions
- Strong understanding of interaction design principles and best practices
- Proficient in wireframing, prototyping, and using design tools such as Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma, or similar
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including developers, product managers, and stakeholders to iterate on designs and incorporate feedback
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of PLEXIS products
- Develop and maintain a broad knowledge of healthcare payer industry practices and trends
- Communicate with clients and PLEXIS Product Delivery personnel to understand business flows and user roles/personas, and to refine requirements accordingly
- Work closely with PLEXIS Product Delivery teams and participate in client calls to maintain a current and clear understanding of client and market needs to ensure software design approach will meet or exceed stated requirements, to help develop new product offerings and improve upon existing ones
- Create and document the functional design specifications and system flows that fulfill the client, market and product requirements and business flows specified for a given project
- Collaborate with members of the PLEXIS Product Development team as part of the process of creating software design and serve as a contributing member of the overall SDLC
- Review requirements, functional designs and implementation approaches for usability, completeness, quality, and technical accuracy
- Successfully communicate conceptual ideas and design rationale, verbally and via written documentation
- Serve as owner of functional design specifications associated with assigned projects
- Work with PLEXIS Technical Writing staff to ensure that user documentation accurately describes product functionality
- Work with PLEXIS Training staff to ensure that internal PLEXIS staff and external client training programs accurately reflect product functionality
- Participate in general software review of the product to ensure it meets the intent of the functional designs, customer needs and product standards

Qualifications
- 3 + years of experience in the design of client server, Windows-based, and Web-based applications
- 1 + Years of healthcare payer related experience
- Experience with software systems requirements, analysis, and design
- Experience creating technical documentation including systems design, context diagrams and functional specifications
- Experience as an end-user or has previously worked with end-users of business software applications, preferably in healthcare payer administrative (claims processing) systems
- Experience with gathering business requirements and transferring those to user workflows and software design documents
- Mastery of user interaction and business process workflow design skills and corresponding tools
- Familiarity with Windows Human Interface Guidelines a plus
- Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server tools (Management Studio, Configuration Manager, SQL Server Integration Services)
- Knowledge of database design, writing queries, triggers and stored procedures on SQL Server preferred
- Deadline driven accountability

- Experience with AI technologies is a plus

- Willingness and capability to come and go from the work area repeatedly throughout the day as is necessary

- Capacity to pick up, leaf through and read books and files and other materials
- Ability to reach forward, up, down and to the side in order to move equipment up to 40 lbs
- Willingness and ability to maintain regular attendance for normally scheduled hours, to work overtime and to be flexible to work other shifts as necessary (i.e., potential weekend schedule)
