Day to day tasks to be performed by the Consultant:
Primary tasks will include the following:
The incumbent will design, test, implement and deploy Java/JavaScript web applications that collect, process, and report out on public health needs. The incumbent will: (a) ensure that the CDESS disease supplemental forms are updated with new surveillance fields and are tested for accuracy and will assist with data quality verifications for the transmission of Health Level 7 (HL7) case notification data to CDC, focusing on the maintenance of current implemented message mapping guides, evaluate and implement alternate case notification technologies pending CDC decisions. (b) ensure the Department can automate receiving eCR data to generate initial case report as specified by CDC for reportable diseases. The incumbent will augment and support interfaces between ECLRS and CDESS to improve the automated processing of ELR data into case investigations. (c) create appropriate documentation in work assignments such as documentation in code repositories and technical design documents, release management process including technical steps to promote, test and release through the development environment, coordinating with infrastructure staff.
Software Developer: Communicable Disease Electronic Surveillance System (CDESS) project
Is involved with all facets of the software development process including research, design, programming, testing, and implementation of computer software.
Expert - 84+ months: Candidate is able to provide guidance to large teams and/or has extensive industry experience and is considered at the top of his/her field.

- 84 months experience in using WebLogic application server
- 84 months experience using one or more framework (Spring/myBatis are preferred)
- 84 months experience in the design, implementation and deployment of Java SE, JDBC, Java Servlets and JavaScript with relational database model applications
- 84 months experience with relational database and SQL
- 84 months experience in system design and system specification documentation
- 84 months experience in using web services
- 84 months experience working with java-based service-oriented architecture
- 84 months experience in unit testing framework and CVS source code control
- Bachelor's Degree
