- 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role, overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
- 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
- Experience developing software tools.
- Cloud product security experience.

Product Security Engineering (PSE) is responsible for ensuring that every Google Cloud product ships as secure as it can be. We do so by increasing the assurance levels of security in the infrastructure underlying all our products, increasing the capabilities of each product team to develop more secure products by design and by default. We work with almost every aspect of Google’s infrastructure and on solving truly planet scale infrastructure security problems that have societal level impacts.
The PSE Tools Engineering Team provides the tools, platform, infrastructure, and guidance necessary for use by PSE teams.

Responsibilities
- Build and nurture high performing teams working in a complex, changing and cutting-edge problem area.
- Collaborate deeply with stakeholders and partner teams, represent security in long-running partnerships to help Cloud product teams ship new features or platforms securely.
- Guide the team to secure all aspects of the software engineering life cycle, including compile-time, run-time, code-review-time, code-scanning-time and other checks.
- Lead the team to break down existing and emerging classes of vulnerabilities and risks into tangible projects. Ensure execution of project roadmaps, including design and implementation, within the team and in collaboration with partner engineering teams.
- Demonstrate excellent technical judgment to balance competing priorities between depth of security work, business needs, and speed of execution.
