Job Description• Responsible and Case Management of all Cognitive disabilities from: folder review; collection of all needed documents; IDT Team; review of TABE testing; develops academic and career technical training plans to support students’ goals and success.
• Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom setting to ensure maximum learning.
• Establishes a high degree of student/instructor rapport.
• Offer small group instruction and tutoring, when needed, to students with special needs.
• Trains all staff on learning support/disabilities and ensures students are receiving appropriate accommodations in education, testing and training settings.
• Participates in initial screening of disabled students, assesses students’ needs and ability to benefit from the Job Corps Program and coordinates living quarters prior to student’s arrival. Makes pre-arrival contact with new disabled students to ensure all requirements are met prior to their arrival.
• Works closely with the Regional Office and Health Services Administrator to ensure the appropriateness of applicants prior to input.
• Performs vocational assessments of all students needing learning support.
• Processes requests for accommodations for classroom and all testing in a timely and efficient manner.
• Develops work experience sites and the placement of disabled students.
• Assists in the completion of all necessary Job Corps forms.
• Develops contacts with state and community agencies representing the disabled and acts as liaison between these agencies and the Center.
• Develops referrals to and receives reports from Health Services with respect to speech therapy, psychological evaluations and special health problems and provides appropriate follow-up information.
• Operates in accordance with the requirements of the PRH, Standard Operating Procedures in function area and corporate policies.
• Evaluates and records student progress/evaluations and case notes in CIS, where appropriate.
• Clearly communicates and consistently models appropriate CSS and employability skills.
• Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property.
• Adheres to safety practices in all areas of responsibility.
• Fosters and sustains a conducive environment at the center, ensuring it remains free from harassment, intimidation, and disrespect, thereby ensuring a safe space for both staff and students to engage in work and learning.
• Attends all required staff training opportunities.
• Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university.
• Two to three years related work experience preferred.
• Experience working with diverse youth.
• A valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
