As a member of the General Dynamics Corporate Headquarters (CHQ) benefits team, you will work closely with Benefits leaders at CHQ and across the company. In this role, you will provide analytical and technical support in the implementation and administration of General Dynamics Corporation’s benefit programs; support various complex projects; and research and resolve complicated benefits issues that impact 90,000 employees and countless retirees.
- Assist benefits team to ensure employee 401(k) and pension programs are administered in accordance with the plan documents and applicable regulations.
- Establish and maintain close working relationships with third party administrators, business units, IT provider, legal, and internal payroll teams. Work closely with these teams to support various activities including compliance-related matters, administration, plan changes, analysis, and historical research.
- Research participant inquires. Work with management to resolve and provide timely responses. Analyze plan rules and present recommendations for appropriate resolution to non-routine situations.
- Research and reconcile historical data files. Perform public records searches as required. Use analytical reasoning to make recommendations.
- Research and provide support for audit requests to ensure appropriate follow-up and resolution by deadlines. Audits may include Employee Benefits Plan audits, DOL, IRS, financial or other governmental audits.
- Develop or review written materials and memos to be used in employee communications and regulatory mailings. Responsible for the timely distributions of all regulatory benefit plan communications in adherence to the terms and provisions of the plan and/or regulatory agency.
- Analyze and monitor 401(k) plan fees.
- Assist management with presentations and analyses to GD Investment Committee as well as annual proxy reporting.
- Provide project support for annual or ad hoc projects related to the administration of employee benefit programs. Typical projects include non-discrimination testing, 401(k) eligibility analysis, summary plan description (SPD) updates, plan mergers, and annual filing requirements.
- Develop analytical reports of plan activity for management and business units, as required.
- Continuously review existing processes with a goal towards improved efficiency and accuracy. Recommend enhancements to management.
- Utilize PeopleSoft (payroll and HRIS platform) and other databases to produce detailed analyses and reports around plan data, employee participation, eligibility criteria and other metrics.
- Create and/or update department procedures as needed.
- Participate in special benefit related projects as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Training Requirements:
- BS/BA degree in Business Administration or related discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience to successfully perform the functions of the role.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience with administering employee retirement benefit programs.
- Experience in benefit administration outsourced environment, either as the client or the provider, is preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Knowledge of employee benefit plans, including relevant regulatory and compliance requirements is preferred.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with people at all levels.
- Must possess excellent attention to detail, analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously while adapting to changing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
- Must possess professionalism, discretion, and good judgment.
- Must be able to work independently and under general supervision with outsourced providers and related third-party vendors.
- Be a meaningful contributor to project execution and team goals.
- Highly collaborative and team oriented.
- Must be fully proficient in MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be fully COVID-19 vaccinated by start date, unless medical or religious exemptions apply.
- Must be willing to work in the Corporate office Monday through Friday during regular business hours.
