Specialist Collections Technician II - El Paso, TX - Monday to Friday (Rotational Weekends) - 1:00AM-5:00PM
Specimen Collection Technicians, under the direction of the area Manager or Group Lead, perform drug screen collection activities in the Patient Service Center (PSC) or at customer locations accurately and on time. May also be required to receive and register patients using electronic or paper requisitions and/or perform phlebotomy in high volume PSC.
Maintains a safe and professional environment. Performs with confidence, urine drug screen specimen collections or phlebotomy following established practices and procedures. Maintains required records and documentation. Demonstrates organizational commitment and promotes a positive image to customers, employees and the public in general.
Pay Range: $17.20+ per hour
Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

- Greet customers appropriately and treats all customers in a courteous manner.
- Ensures all drug screen specimens and phlebotomy specimens are collected accurately and on time
- Collects specimens according to established procedures.
- Responsible for completing chain of custody forms accurately.
- Responsible for completing requisitions accurately
- Phone employers (clients) to verify test(s) ordered, discuss collection or identification issues, per established procedures.
- Package specimens for transport.
- Maintains required records and documentation
- Reads, understands and complies with departmental policies, protocols and procedures: (i.e. Procedure Manuals, Safety Manual, Compliance Manual, Automobile policies and procedures, Employee Handbook, Quality Assurance Manual).
- Maintains all appropriate PSC/Collection logs.
- Clerical duties: filing, maintain customer log, fax Medical Review Officer (MRO) documents as required, prepare MRO and employer (client) envelopes for mailing. May require electronic data entry.
- Assist with compilation of monthly statistics and data. Submits data on time monthly.
- Submits accurate time and travel logs as directed by management and on time.
- Submits accurate expense forms, if applicable, on the required day.

- Adheres to departmental and company code of grooming and dress code and lab coat policies, appearing neat and clean at all times.
- Reports on time to work, following attendance guidelines.
- Answers the telephone in a friendly and helpful manner, by incorporating the company name, self-identification and a helpful statement
- Keeps information confidential per company and procedural policies.
- Communicates all unresolved problems immediately to the appropriate Manager, Supervisor, Group Leader or Phlebotomy Services Rep. II for resolution. Remains polite and courteous at all time.
- Miscellaneous duties and responsibilities
- Keeps work area neat and clean. Disposes of biohazard containers when scheduled.
- Help with inventories and other tasks as assigned.
- Stock supplies as needed.
- Performs department-related clerical duties when assigned.
- Answers phones and dispatches calls when assigned.
- Participates on teams and special projects when asked.
- All other duties as assigned, within scope of position.
- Must have a collection error rate of less than 1%
- Must be able to collect more than 30 collections per day.
- Must have proficient knowledge of the Department of Transportation urine and breath alcohol collection regulations - 49 cfr part 40.
- Must be qualified as a trainer for urine and/or breath alcohol collections and conduct collector training.
- Special requirements:
- Must be available for on-call collections 24/7
- Must be flexible and available based on staffing requirements; weekends, holidays, on call and overtime.
- Must have reliable transportation, valid driver license and driving record that meets Quest Diagnostics driver safety guidelines, if applicable.
- Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high volume setting
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Work Experience:
- Customer service in a service environment
- DOT Urine Drug Screen Collector (Collecting for a minimum of two (2) years)
- DOT Breath Alcohol Technician (Collecting for a minimum of two (2) years)

Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
Knowledge:
- Medical training would be helpful (i.e. medical assistant, paramedic)
- The position requires the ability to effectively communicate in English.
Skills:
- Demonstrates good organization, communication, and interpersonal skills,
- Able to manage concerns of customers and employees in a professional manner.

High School Diploma or Equivalent(Required)
