About the team and position
The Safe & Secure Support Team (SSST) helps to keep our 20,000+ associates, who work at our 200+ various locations, safe and secure every day. By collaborating with various Carvana teams the SSST delivers strategic planning, security program development, technology innovation, risk mitigation processes, data analytics, crisis management, and project management. In partnership with the Field Safe & Secure Team and the Operations Safe & Secure Team - the SSST is an integral part of how we ensure the safety and security of all associates every day at every site.
The Specialist, Safe & Secure Learning will be an integral part of the Safe & Secure (SAS) Team and be responsible for the full lifecycle learning and development process, from the curriculum design up to the implementation and maintenance of employee training programs. This role will utilize expertise to create and deliver high-quality, impactful training and educational materials for the Safe & Secure Team and Company wide safety initiatives. The ideal candidate for this role will be a collaborative thought-partner who will develop and maintain relationships with internal subject matter experts (SMEs) and technical teams, within the business team and across Carvana. They will assist with building instructor-lead training, effectively coordinate with partners on learning content for technical training to upskill our internal teams, and support the mission of safety focused initiatives. This candidate will also have a strong understanding of our learning management system, Workday Learning, and can fully support the execution and maintenance of new and established learning solutions. This role requires a passion for continuous learning and readiness to bring creativity and insight to the team. The ideal candidate should also be driven and energetic and multi-task across various coinciding program initiatives while having the ability to thrive in an ambiguous ever-changing environment.
What you’ll be doing
- Assist with the development of high impact training/instructional content that accelerates the SAS business priorities and processes, both internally on the SAS Team and enterprise-wide with Carvana.
- Collaborate with the target audience, understand the expectations for technical and leadership roles across the organization to support the creation of effective training content and plans. Must be able to build partnerships to support a routine to gain effective feedback to ensure that the content is meeting the objective
- Leverage instructional design and multimedia skills to advise on and develop learning solutions including videos, e-learning modules, workbooks, instructor guides and job aids that will drive organizational learning and results
- Find new ways to produce content that scales and resonates with our SAS Team and other learners.
- Track the successful completion and efficacy of training programs and learning initiatives for all participants.
- Drive continuous improvement of training initiatives.
- Collaborate with key partners and stakeholders to ensure training programs, content, and initiatives are implemented accordingly.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you should know/have
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited undergraduate institution is preferred.
- 1-3 years of instructional design experience and an understanding of adult learning principles. Knowledge of learning methodologies and learning management systems with one to three years of experience in safety, security or asset protection.
- Experience with Workday Learning, including user administration, content creation, reporting, and analytics
- Introductory knowledge and understanding of the Articulate, specifically in Rise and Storyline, platform. Basic knowledge of programs to create and elevate content, such as Canva and the full Adobe Creative Suite.
- Understanding of project management, organization, and planning skills.
- Ability to be flexible, creative and innovative, with the capability to manage responsibilities and priorities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented and time critical environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong problem solving skills with a willingness to think outside the box.
- Strong collaborator who knows how to build strong relationships that drive great results.
- Basic understanding of data analysis techniques to measure the effectiveness of training programs.

- Strong organizational skills and acute attention to detail, along with strong project management skills from strategy to execution.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize like a ninja.
- Experience with Google Suite.
