- The Transnational Threat Specialist is a member of the Corporate Affairs team within Corporate Security.
- This position leads a team of security professionals responsible for international and domestic aviation security operations for American Airlines. The Specialist is responsible for ensuring enhanced security program requirements are implemented and met as required by AA and government regulatory requirements, to ensure the safety and security of the customers, employees, and corporate assets of American Airlines.
What you'll do
- Supervise and lead 3rd party narcotics detection canine team operations
- Conduct enhanced security searches for illicit contraband above and below the wing on inbound and departing international and domestic flights
- Coordinate security search logistics with airport operating departments to ensure flight operations depart as scheduled
- Act as a liaison with all levels of law enforcement on criminal security matters
- Identify risk and suggest solutions to help mitigate unmanifested contraband and other security risks
- Become familiar with and enforce all government and airline security regulations
- Assist in the development and implementation of narcotics detection / prevention systems
- Ability to learn and operate new technologies used for counter narcotics detection
- Conduct motorized and foot patrols of American Airlines’ operational footprint
- Coordinate with Baggage Service, Cargo Ramp Service, and Customer Care Departments
- Ability to change work schedule as dictated by the needs of the department
- Coordinates information gathered from the Pass Bureau, Human Resources, and other outside agencies to ensure that office policies are proper and correct
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field equivalent experience in relative field
- 4+ years experience
Preferred Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience
- College degree or military/law enforcement service equivalent
- Previous experience in counter narcotics interdiction and conducting space accountability searches for hidden contraband
- Previous experience in a law enforcement or regulatory capacity with an aviation focus
- Strong analytical skill including the ability to research, analyze and present investigative findings
- Previous experience with an aviation security regulatory or aviation industry body
- Previous international airport and/or airline operations experience
- Fluent Spanish language skills
Skills, Licenses, and Certifications
- Knowledge of budgets, purchasing, scheduling, and inventory procedures
- Knowledge of AWA and Security Services policies and procedures
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work in a confidential environment
- Ability to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision
