Summary:
Role is part of the Vulnerable/Elder Financial Exploitation Team and will investigate issues of potential insider abuse and completes related regulatory reporting based on investigation findings and conclusions. Topics of investigation typically include, but are not limited to, theft of funds, Power of Attorney abuse, elder financial exploitation, and various scams in which the vulnerable adult is victimized.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct external investigations related to elder/vulnerable person exploitation situations.
- Work with Adult Protective Services, local law enforcement or other related agencies to assist the elder/vulnerable person.
- Timely and complete documentation of investigative activity in the designated case management system, the collection and compilation of relevant evidence to support the case, and the filing of well-constructed, complete, and accurate Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) or criminal complaints on applicable cases.
- Reviews investigation conclusions and recommendations for policy and procedure or control enhancements with Business Line Management and coordinates, as necessary, with Management and Human Resources on applicable corrective action.
- Act as a liaison to local, state, and federal law enforcement on matters relating to fraudulent, illegal activity.
- Represent the bank in criminal or conciliation court matters as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Minimum of 3 years of investigation experience
- Minimum of 2 years in financial crime investigations
- Minimum of 2 years in direct SAR filing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Relevant Professional Certification (CFE, CFCI, ACAMS etc.)
- Working knowledge of current bank fraud investigative techniques and/or systems and SAR filing guidelines
- Ability to multi-task and proven track record of time management and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong Windows-based PC skills, including proficiency with MS Office
- Certificate of completion from Wicklander or Reid Interview course
