UWAC is part of the **_Institute on Human Development and Disability (IHDD) at the University of Washington_** and incorporates faculty and staff from the UW School of Medicine, College of Arts & Sciences, and College of Education. **The IHDD's Seattle and Tacoma Satellite Clinic has an outstanding opportunity for a** **_Temporary_** **,** **_Full-Time_** **Speech and Language Pathologist - Clinical Fellow (SLP-CF)/Continuing Education Specialist 1** **.** This position is for a period of **9 -12 months.** This individual will work amongst a team of professionals, including licensed psychologists, speech-language pathologists, board certified behavior analysts, behavior technicians, occupational therapists, graduate students, and pre- and post-doctoral fellows primarily at our Seattle clinic. However, we also have a clinic and Tacoma and some work will be there. This CF position work schedule would be 1 day in Tacoma, 4 days in Seattle. The ideal CF will be willing to travel between Tacoma and Seattle clinic locations. The main function of this position will be to provide direct clinical services and consultation for individuals with autism spectrum disorders. The position will support the Autism Center-wide policies and procedures and workload standards. The position requires the ability to handle complex and sensitive situations regarding clinic patients. BASIC FUNCTION Provide speech and language services to children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) at the UW Autism Center in our Seattle and Tacoma clinics (5 days a week total) RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct clinical services and patient care activities: - Provide speech/language/communication evaluations to children with ASD in order to identify target goals and intervention strategies using a variety of standardized and non-standardized methods. - Provide speech/language/communication intervention to children with ASD including regularly assessing child's speech/language/communication progress and modify goals as needed. - Provide services in individual and group settings. - Work with clients ranging in age from infants to adults, with the majority of services provided to preschool and school-age children. - Feel comfortable administering customized treatment to children with a range of language skills and behavioral presentations. - Develop treatment programs with the cooperation of UW and community practitioners and educators. - Collaborate with other clinical team members in assessment and intervention. - Provide consultation to families, community providers, and UWAC clinicians regarding a range of communication issues in the home and school settings to develop continuity of care. - Involve client's parents and/or families in treatment program. - Complete initial client evaluation reports, treatment plans, progress reports, referral letters, and other administrative responsibilities in a timely manner. - Keep appropriate records of services provided. Administrative duties: - Coordinate with the billing office regarding services, coordinate with licensed/supervising SLP - Coordinate with administration and support staff to meet billable expectations - Keep and report service statistics for documentation and billing purposes **Minimum Qualifications** - Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. - A completed Praxis exam with passing score. - 1 year of experience working with individuals with ASD and their families. - Excellent oral and written communication skills. - An approach to working with colleagues that enhances collaboration and team building. **Desirable Qualifications** - Experience and interest in working with individuals with ASD and their families. - Experience and interest in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). - Experience and interest in running social skills groups. - Experience in the administration and scoring of the ADOS-2 modules 1-4. - May be willing to start part time and increase to full time after initial credentialing period (1-2 months). **Application Process:** The application process for UW positions may include completion of a variety of online assessments to obtain additional information that will be used in the evaluation process.
