Primary Purpose of this Job

The primary purpose of this job is to develop machine programs for lathes with up to 5 axis while collaborating with cross-functional teams comprised of machinists/operators, manufacturing engineers, production supervisors, supply chain representatives, quality engineers/inspectors, and operations/program management to support program schedule & performance goals, mitigate manufacturing risks, and improve operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Develop machining strategies to take designs and produce machined hardware
• Develop CNC Programs, create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for various machining processes, including milling, turning, and multi-axis machining centers.
• Tooling & Fixture Selection, work closely with the engineering team to select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and cutting parameters to ensure the efficient and accurate production of parts.

·         Assist machinists with the setup and troubleshooting of CNC machines, ensuring programs are run as intended and resolve any issues that arise during the machining process.

·         Develop manufacturing plans for high-volume production

• Design custom tools and fixtures as needed
• Develop set-up sheets to show alignment of geometry from CNC program to physical workpiece.
• Identify, select, and procure appropriate tooling for job specific applications (based on part material, geometry, features, tolerances, system rigidity, and equipment capability).
• Releasing programs to the production team that have been validated
• Own process improvement opportunities (reduced machining/setup time, improved part quality)
• Maintain configuration control of files and job records

Qualifications

• Min 5 years working with programming CNC   
• Min 5 years working with Mazak machines
• Min 7 years working within a manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of metal alloys and usage within consumer and industrial products

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Skilled in:

·         Machining principles and GD&T

·         Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams

·         Strong ability to operate machines, read instructions and apply appropriate procedures

·         Programming processes in Mastercam 2024
