Overview:The Senior Mechanical Engineer is and individual contributor responsible for the mechanical design and analysis of assigned deliverables for CB&I projects including specific complex deliverables such as pressure vessels, heat transfer equipment, rotating equipment and piping engineering. Responsibilities may include: Managing projects/processes, working independently with limited supervision. Problems faced are difficult and sometimes complex. Work includes, among other things, conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, layouts, design calculations, specification development and supervising vendor packages for equipment and mechanical systems. The role reports to the Department or Manager and routinely interacts with other Mechanical Engineers, Project Engineers and Managers.
Responsibilities:- Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for new products
- Develop testing processes, and perform testing and validation of new designs
- Generate working prototypes for beta testing and customer demonstration
- Perform engineering calculations to support design work
- Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors
- Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process
- Ensure project timeline is met and project stays within budget
- Maintains and promotes a focus on CB&I’s product whether engineering, fabrication or construction

- 5-10 Yrs – Discipline
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or in a related field from an accredited school is required.
- Engineer In Training (EIT) or working toward obtaining EIT, and then a professional engineering license is preferred.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills
- Firm grasp of engineering concepts, and experience designing mechanical systems and products
- Excellent math skills: ability to apply advanced mathematical principles and statistics to solve problems
- Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar
- Business presence and polish
- Knowledge of CB&I products and markets
- Proactively identifies and solves the complex problems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Mentally agile and ability to multi-task and manage tight deadlines
- Proven negotiating ability with high emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills
