Scope of Responsibility: Responsible for developing and implementing material sourcing strategies as they align to the overall company annual business plan, goals and objectives.
Position Purpose: Ensure the right suppliers have been selected, approved, and perform to provide materials that meet both internal and customer based product specifications, quantity, quality, lowest possible total cost and are delivered as required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide strategic supplier analysis and determine sourcing strategy across Tekni-Plex for assigned categories. Report risks and opportunities on key materials to business unit management.
- Negotiate with suppliers to fully achieve cost objectives and obtain the best in class terms and conditions on supply agreements that favor the procurement of all materials. Integrate new acquisitions to leverage best supply plan.
- Based on material category and supplier competitive pricing, provide sites with appropriate supplier material allocation schedules. Provide functional leadership to plant purchasing and planning.
- Develop and maintain awareness of changing commodity-related business trends in the marketplace and prepares reports on the possible short and long term impact to the business including sustainability.
- Perform cost and risk analysis on assigned categories in order to identify opportunities for cost reductions.
- Participate on or lead cross functional teams that identify and act on cost reduction opportunities, alternative material qualifications or improve operational efficiencies/process improvements within the business.
- With R&D, identify alternative materials and action plans/timelines for full qualification. Coordinate new parts and process implementation qualification with internal business organization and supplier technical/quality teams.
- Resolve price, quality, and all other disputes with suppliers including corrective actions for resolution and/or improvement. Support trade compliance, regulatory, logistics and others as needed and as relates to assigned suppliers.
- Lead and drive procurement and planning practices meeting inventory/working capital goals
- Manage and implement annual cost saving projects aligned with procurement and business goals and objectives
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential Requirements:
- Some overnight travel to domestic or international locations, Tekni-Plex sites, suppliers, conferences/meetings as needed estimated to be 0-6 nights per month.
- Able to work extended or flexible hours as required
- Continuous contact with other people requiring a variety of communications methods
- Learn systems, collect data and create models from many sources
- Essential Qualifications & Knowledge:
- 4-year college degree (Business related, Engineering) from an accredited university.
- 10+ year experience in procurement including strategy development
- Flexible packaging industry experience a plus.
- Nationally recognized professional certification such as CPPM, CPM, CPSM, CPIM or CSCP is a plus.
- Good interpersonal and negotiating skills to build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and supply partners.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of productivity applications - with specific skills in Excel and Word.
- Working knowledge of logistics, supply chain, general accounting and financial principals
