The Senior Software Engineer will work within the Medtronic R&D engineering team to develop and support software tools for the Surgical Robotic program
The software tools that you will create will be used in support of operations, field service, R&D and the Software Test organization
These software tools will interact with hardware devices such as robotic arms, actuators, sensors, GPIO devices, microcontrollers and other networked devices.Engineers create our market-leading portfolio of innovations

Help us bring the next generation of life-changing medical technology to patients worldwide.You Will: Design and create software tools for a robotic minimally invasive surgical system utilizing best software development practicesProduce high quality node.js and C++ code consistent with the written designProduce documentation describing the design and provide engineering support for software validation.Participate in reviews of the requirements, design, implementation and tests to ensure that all software meets quality standards.Analyze unexpected, undesirable, or non-understood behavior in software and in interactions of software with hardwareDocument results of defect analysisFollow the ISO 62304 standard and project documents such as the software development plan and coding standardsQualificationsMust have: Minimum qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical disciplineMinimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.Strong coding skills in C/C++ (including object-oriented techniques) requiredStrong coding skills in node.js required.Nice to have:Familiarity with Agile software development processesExperience in Linux and Windows application programming and scripting.Experience in a regulated industry (medical device or avionics) is preferred.Experience with QNX or other real time operating system desiredRTI DDS and other common networking protocols a plusBasic understanding of standard OS features (e.g
