Summary:
Responsible for identifying developing and presenting opportunities in support of Supply Chain lifecycle for products and/or services. Serves as an advisor to internal customers and the Supply Chain teams by providing decision support and recommendations across multiple clinical and/or business lines. Cultivates relationships with suppliers that maximizes value and performance. Optimizes results through cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for routine negotiations of various products and/or services across multiple business lines according to clinically-driven and operationally-driven requirements. Ensure contract terms are consistent with the corporate contracting strategy and are negotiated within the established legal operational and financial guidelines as established by Supply Chain Leadership. Any non-standard elements of any contract negotiations have been properly researched communicated and approved by key internal stakeholders. Must be able to effectively communicate the negotiated contract terms to downstream for accurate and timely implementation.
Initiates develops and manages Request For Proposals (RFP) on identified opportunities. Conducts analytical activities with Supply Chain resources. Analyzes interprets and presents data for opportunities or impacts. Connects strategy to outcomes through an extensive understanding of organizational requirements and Supplier motivations. Deepen strategic relationships internally and externally to serve as a trusted and credible advisor.
Necessary skills include routine negotiations project management communication adaptability to a diverse portfolio of work attention to detail and knowledge of commonly used Microsoft Office functions. Utilizes a collaborative team-centered approach to forming and maintaining positive working relationships. Participates in development and continuous improvement of Supply Chain Procurement processes.
Adheres to federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to contracting and procurement of equipment supplies and services. Plans and implements recurring work using established procedures conferring with Supply Chain leadership as necessary.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Negotiates agreements and/or purchases with a moderate level of value and/or risk.
Assists strategic sourcing initiatives from induction to implementation hand-off.
Supports various teams and resources to deploy and operationalize strategic initiatives.
Utilize contract documents to clearly specify terms including legal regulatory policy financial and other terms which allow for implementation of the contract and minimizes or prevents internal and external misunderstandings of contract intent.
Works closely with the legal and compliance departments to ensure contract provisions are consistent across providers and ensure all applicable legal and regulatory terms are included in the signed contract.
Prepares professional summary documents and presentation.
Leads Request for Proposal (RFP) activities.
Troubleshoots contract-related problems and develop and execute an action plan.
Monitors and track current contract portfolio and extend renew or close them out.
Fosters supportive supplier relationships to ensure optimal performance and opportunity maximization.
Performs other duties as assigned by Supply Chain Leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
High level interpersonal skills to effectively represent Brown University Health and Supply Chain in interactions with all levels of personnel within and outside the organization. Excellent communication presentation and influencing skills.
Knowledge of procurement policies contract documents and basic legal specifications.
Adaptable to changing priorities.
Ensures proper protection of organization�s confidential information.
Proficient ability to detect errors and inconsistencies within agreements and data.
Understands how to use a range of wide tools and processes in Supply Chain and Supplier Management
EDUCATION:
Bachelor degree in related field preferred.
In lieu of education requirements 3 years related work experience in supply chain contract preparation and/or administration required.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 3 years in a managed health care environment or related work experience. Direct contract negotiations for multiple lines of business and products is highly desirable.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
