To help maintain and grow this standard, we're seeking an experienced Sr. Accounting Manager to assist in providing financial oversight for both HIG brands. The ideal candidate will have a sharp business mind and proven success in similar roles. This person has a positive outlook and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
What you'll do:
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounting and Reporting
- Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
- Compiles composite reports from information provided by department employees.
- Prepares month-end closing entries for the recording of all cost accounting activities.
- Maintains the general ledger to ensure accuracy and compliance with the organization's policies, accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and assists in closing the monthly books.
- Reconciles bank accounts, verifies bank activity as necessary, and addresses inquiries from banks.
- Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.
- Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
Financial Analysis
- Provides timely and comprehensive reports including but not limited to month end, quarter end, and annual end and continuous and periodic analysis of balance sheet reconciliations, expenditures, financial performance, budgets, inventories, capital expense, manufacturing performance and forecasts of present and future performance of the organization.
- Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
- Analyzes manufacturing variances, preparing written explanations supporting the monthly forecast.
- Tracks, analyzes, and reports departmental costs, both actual and standard. Works closely with department managers to understand actual and forecasted departmental costs.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve proprietary tools and systems, complete projects, and identify and address areas of opportunity.
Compliance
- Established and maintains a system of internal controls to ensure the accuracy and completeness of both internal and external financial reports.
- Responsible for the overall Sarbanes-Oxley compliance process for location. Provides specific support for preparation and auditing of SOX controls within the entire organization.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
- Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies as necessary.
Supervisory / Leadership Responsibilities
- Responsible for supervising Finance/Accounting team members
- Provides leadership during the annual physical count of inventory and as needed.
- Provides direction to the leased vehicle program.
Planning
- Develops and implements goals, policies, and procedures related to the General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Receivable, Credit and Collections, Property, Plant and Equipment Sales and Property Tax.
- Leads the coordination and preparation of the annual budget process.
- Participates in the implementation of automated systems to improve accounting functions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Secondary Accountabilities:
In addition to the accountabilities listed above, individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including work in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods or otherwise to balance the workload.
What We need:
Education/experience:
- Experience: At least 10 years of Finance, Accounting or related experience
- Education: Bachelor's Degree - Finance, Accounting, related
