- Minimum of 7 years working experience in previous Engineering leadership positions in an aerospace manufacturing setting

HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we're the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.
Summary Under the direction of the site's Director of Operations, this position is responsible for leading and directing engineering resources to the fulfillment of Fullerton Operations' business objectives. This position leads and is directly accountable for the strategic Engineering initiatives and objectives for the location.
- Manages and develops the engineering team and coordinates activities of the site's engineering function to design, process, project, develop, produce, improve, and test components, products, systems, and services.
- Achieving and exceeding determined key measurable items including OEE, OA (operational availability), and EHS to support the plant's delivery metrics.
- Works on or serves as a resource on projects requiring advanced knowledge of a particular field of specialization.
- Provides support and works closely with Operations, Safety and Environmental Engineering in a leadership capacity to effectively manage engineering and capital projects
- Oversees and manages the planning, purchasing and execution of the capital expenditures process.
- Applies various engineering problem solving and productivity techniques to evaluate the improvement of recommended strategies and programs.
- Integrate new and replacement capital equipment.
- Implementing policies and expectations to ensure that objectives, activities, and plans are achieved.
- Leading and participating in the development of an independent culture and an incident free workplace.
- Manage communication and coordination among different types of engineers working on a project, supervise project schedule, budget, and communications with stakeholders
- Performing other duties as assigned.
- Directing the activities of engineering staff to ensure that designs meet safety standards and regulations, coordinating with other departments within an organization to ensure that projects meet specifications and deadlines, and overseeing the development of new qualifications.
