Central Garden & Pet is searching for a talented Sr. Manager Human Resources with terrific leadership and multi-tasking skills to serve as the HR leader for Central Home Brands, part of our Pet Consumer segment and an industry leader in manufacturing Outdoor Cushions, Pillows and Pet Beds. This role leads a team of HR resources, reports to the senior HR leader for the Pet Consumer segment and is in Bingham Farms, MI.
As a member of the Central Home Brands leadership team, you will lead our Human Resources efforts in support of our Central to Home strategy and drive progressive HR initiatives that strengthen our Culture pillar, including developing and recruiting top diverse talent, building capability, and continuing to solidify Central Garden & Pet’s position as a great place to work. As a charismatic Human Resources leader, you will influence the organization structure, build collaborative teams, while working closely with Corporate HR on further aligning with Central’s processes and programs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic Partner: Serve as a member of the Central Home Brands alignment team and guide the organization on HR programs and processes such as performance management, succession planning and key Central to Home Strategy HR initiatives.
- Positive Employee Relations: Implement Employee Relations practices that drive a positive employer-employee relationship and that promote a high-level employee morale and motivation.
- Build Talent & Future Capabilities: Execute a Recruitment Plan that includes sourcing, interviewing, and hiring top candidates, and provides thorough onboarding plans. Serve as the lead role for comprehensive development plans and promote the use of our tools and resources through our Learning Central e-learning portal.
- Proactive Communication: Partner with Corporate Leaders, Plant and Human Resources Managers to provide a strong community with all employees. Build positive working relationships with Facility Managers and Safety Administrators, and proactively communicate goals for operations, safety, and company performance. Work with site leadership to ensure adherence to company policies.
- Lead the HR Function: Act as a liaison to Corporate Human Resources in understanding and deploying initiatives in support of our Central to Home Culture pillar. Provide guidance to the Central Home Brands team, including the identification and development of future resource needs and skills, succession planning and capability building.
- HR Budget: Prepare operating budget for Human Resources and make recommendations that drive positive employee relations across the Central Home Brands sites.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong leadership, implementation, change management, employee relations and organizational skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of organizational development, workforce planning, recruiting, interviewing, training, and implementing policies, programs and benefits.
- Knowledgeable of employment law and compliance i.e. I-9, E-Verify, labor laws, and safety.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with ability to quickly learn another computer software as needed.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree required preferably in Human Resources Management.
- Minimum of five years of experience in HR Management in Manufacturing or Distribution.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- General office & warehouse environment.
- Business travel can range from 20-40%, depending on location responsibilities.
