Senior Solar Designer (East)

Location: New York state or Massachusetts state or within the New England region of the northeast

The Role:

• Work in a team environment designing Ground Mount, Canopy, Rooftop Solar, and Battery Storage projects
• Manage Independent Engineering firms (IE) that produce design and engineering drawing sets to create 1/3-line diagrams and permit/construction drawing packages
• Work with utilities and jurisdictions to provide proper documentation for permitting
• Provide IE firms with the requirements for design; review drawing sets from IE and provide red lines as needed, and review “issue for procurement” and “issue for construction” drawing sets
• Communicate and collaborate with both the Development and Construction teams to optimize designs based on incentives, local regulations, and environmental restrictions
• Create initial concept designs working with Helioscope, PVsyst, and CAD to estimate plant production
• Own the upkeep, organization, and improvement of CAD templates, drafting standards and other associated CAD tools
• Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and in collaboration with individuals on the design team to assist in the delivery of a complete project

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and/or Sustainability Engineering from ABET Accredited Program preferred
• 4+ years of designing solar systems, at least 2 years of 1-6 MW of Ground Mount and Commercial & Industrial Rooftop Solar projects preferred
  • Must have solar and BESS design experience (Ground Mount, Canopy, Rooftop Solar, and Battery Storage projects)
• Proficiency reading and understanding electrical one-line diagrams, and architectural and civil drawings required
• 3+ years of AutoCAD experience (certification preferred) with demonstrable ability to develop and implement AutoCAD standards and workflow required
• Familiarity with building and electrical codes required
• Proficiency in PVCAD/PVComplete and Helioscope required; Sketch Up and/or GIS Data proficiency preferred
