We are on the lookout for a Senior Technical Specialist to join our team, focusing on the design and development of glazing and mechanisms for a premier vehicle. This role is ideal for seasoned professionals who are passionate about both aesthetic and functional aspects of automotive systems. The perfect candidate will bring a proactive mindset and a strong work ethic, consistently striving for excellence in a dynamic environment. You will also play a key role in mentoring junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
Take a lead role in the engineering design, packaging, release, and launch of glazing and mechanisms for a cutting-edge vehicle.
Develop innovative exterior systems that prioritize quality, reliability, functionality, weight, and cost-effectiveness.
Collaborate closely with a diverse team of engineers and designers, focusing on the overall benefit to the vehicle rather than individual components.
Utilize and enhance advanced engineering tools to foster innovative solutions in system development.
Mentor and guide junior engineering staff, sharing knowledge and expertise.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 12 years of experience in the design and development of vehicle glazing and mechanisms, with exposure to areas such as:
Windshields, quarter glasses, roof glass, and backlites
Wiper systems
Side mirrors
Active grille shutters
B-pillar appliqués
Strong aptitude for creative engineering and 3D problem-solving.
Demonstrated proficiency in creating complex CAD designs and models, preferably using CATIA V5 or V6.
Extensive experience with glazing, wipers, and materials like thermoplastics and thermoset resins, alongside Class A manufacturing processes.
Familiarity with the range of computational tools available for design engineers.
Experience in launching automotive products and understanding of relevant regulatory standards.
Preferred Experience:
Over 10 years in glazing design, with a deep understanding of thermal and acoustic performance, system integration, plastics design, Class A surfaces, aerodynamics, and tooling.
Experience leading a team through the automotive product development lifecycle.
A strong desire to produce top-tier products within a collaborative team setting.
Excellent teamwork and interpersonal abilities.
A solid work ethic.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field is required; an advanced degree is a plus.
Salary Range: $100,000-150,000
