POSITION (updated):
Senior Manager
DEPARTMENT – NO CHANGE
Management/Leadership
JOB DESCRIPTION (updated):
Overview:
The Ascent Leadership Program is unique. It’s a full-time job (with good pay and benefits). But unlike most job, it’s designed to help people with leadership potential go to the next level. This program is a launching pad, not a landing zone. It’s a development experience—that you get paid to do. As a part of your job, you will be taught the business, manage people, set strategy, and get personalized leadership training.
We are recruiting college graduates from around the country to this 2 ½ year program where emerging leaders are placed into senior leadership roles at select Chick-fil-A restaurants. Ascent Leaders will receive personal mentorship by the owner of the restaurant, as well as learn about high performance leadership through an online course where they will apply those lessons in their full-time, decision-making role as a member of a restaurant’s leadership team.
Prior restaurant experience is not required. Prior management experience is not required. If you’re the right kind of person, we can train you on the skills needed. Ascent Leaders will spend the first two months being trained in restaurant basics, then will rotate through a variety of leadership roles including: customer service, operations, human resources, and marketing. Upon conclusion of the program, each Ascent Leader has the opportunity to:
- Stay on with the restaurant and continue leading and learning
- Pursue a staff role at the Chick-fil-A Corporate Headquarters (Atlanta)
- Pursue becoming a Chick-fil-A franchisee (owning their own restaurant)
- Work with a boutique recruiting agency (a partner company) to interview with a wide variety of companies looking for talented, values-driven leaders
- Receive assistance in applying to various Master’s Degree programs, including a 25% scholarship to Regent University for all Ascent program graduates
Responsibilities:
Ascent Leaders will be involved in a wide range of activities in the restaurant, from working with raw foods to planning marketing events to analyzing financial reports. Ascent Leaders will be trained on how to perform each role, so only the ability to learn quickly is a prerequisite. However, each leader will also spend at least some of every week (and most of the first few months) working in various frontline roles in the restaurant, from making food to working a register to taking out the trash. There is a minimum physical requirement including being able to move easily through narrow kitchen hallways, lift boxes of supplies, and prepare complicated food items using your hands and cooking utensils (note: each Chick-fil-A restaurant makes their food “by hand” every day, unlike some of their less successful competitors).
