JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision and following established policies and procedures, the Staff Accountant is responsible for processing accounts payables, daily general ledger posting, and reconciliations of cash accounts. Performs other routine and semi-complex posting, balancing and reconciliation tasks related to the general ledger. Responds to questions and/or provides information upon request from members (internal and external). Processes requests/transactions, as appropriate.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Listed below are some of the essential functions to carry out this job.
- Handles all functions of daily accounts payables tasks from research, coding invoices, processing payments (weekly), sending out payments, vendor maintenance, and year-end reporting.
- Completes daily postings to the general ledger; proves general ledger balances to control balances; prepares daily financial operating statements; and provides the Accounting Manager with selected financial information.
- Performs clerical recordkeeping involving the typing, posting, verifying and compilation of financial records and forms.
- Maintains cash accounts reconciliations and follows up on all reconciling items. Prepares balance sheet and bank statement reconciliations.
- Reviews Federal Reserve wire transfer report for proper recording of all wire transfers.
- Reviews teller worksheets for transactions requiring supervisor signature.
- Assists in maintaining fixed asset and prepaid processes.
- Performs internal audit function tasks.
- Ensures procedures are kept up to date and complete.
- Provides general support to other areas of the Accounting department as necessary. Assists Senior Accountant and Accounting Manager with account research and audit.

- A degree in Accounting or Finance and/or two years of equivalent experience is preferred.
- Experience in finance/accounting department of a financial institution a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Microsoft Office expertise (Excel and Word).
- Ability to read and interpret documents and ability to communicate effectively with colleagues of the Bank.
